It'll be taking it one eviction at a time but Sydney has declared its support for former AFL teammate and Big Brother housemate Ryan Fitzgerald.
"I think Fitzy will fit in very well," coach Paul Roos said of the reality TV show's early favourite to win the $1 million first prize.
Ryan, 27, had a whopping 26 per cent popularity rating, three sleeps into the 85 day competition. His nearest rival among 13 other housemates, Trevor, has only 13 per cent.
Sydney's Heath James and Jude Bolton (one-time good friend of popstar Delta Goodrem), shared a house with Ryan but forward Ryan O'Keefe thought the reputed pants man was worthy of his favouritism.
"He's a pretty easygoing bloke and gets along with everyone, and he's usually the life of the party, so I'd be putting my money on Fitzy too," O'Keefe said.
"He'll do well. He's the sort of guy you can't hate."
And as for the chance of romance in the house for Ryan, the word from O'Keefe was: "I think he does pretty well with the females. That's what I've heard anyway."
The No4 draft pick in 1998, Ryan made his senior debut in 2000 after a shoulder reconstruction set back a promising career as a tall marking forward.
From his debut until a season-ending knee injury in 2001 Ryan played 10 games for the Swans before being traded to Adelaide for his final season.
