    reserves this weekend

As part of the match review for the reserves, I'm going to try and post a bit more info about our young guys for those not able to make it to the game.

Are there 2 or 3 particular players we'd like to know more about?

Post here and I'll see what I can do for you. The players with the most requests will get my attention this week. I hope to do this for pretty much all at some stage through the season.

Neither has been an Emergency IIRC.

Have Matthew Davis and Luke Taylor been playing in the ressies at all? Haven't heard their names mentioned at all.

On Davis I would really like to hear about how he is going. I believe this kid will turn out to be the steal of the 2003 draft. If we didn't pick him, he would of gone 1st Round this coming season.
            Once was, now elsewhere

I think I wrote a few words on Davis in my review of the Queanbeyan match.

I was impressed by what I saw in that match (and the one the previous week at the SCG). He is still pretty light but he moves exceptionally well (fast, elegant), seemed to know where to run to present himself, marked solidly and kicked well.

No, not really, though it is a long time since he was a skinny 17 yo and nowadays we don't get to see him run in straight lines very much.

Purely in terms of how he moves, more like Kennelly or even Saddington or Craig Bolton. They are all tallish (190cm or so) with an easy, elegant running style. Davis is probably quicker than Saddo or Bolton. Dempster seems to be another one in this mold.

In terms of skills, haven't seen him do anything than the "plain vanilla" - no signs of the freakishness that was evident in O'Loughlin even in his early days. But he seems to be able to do the basic things pretty well, so that's a good start.
