    HEAD TO HEAD

LAST TIME - Syd 16.8 (104) d Rich 10.12 (72), round 10, 2003, at the MCG. After trailing by 26 during the third quarter, Richmond brought the margin back to one point in the last but Sydney, with superior leg speed, put on five goals and drew away for an easy win. Sydney's Jude Bolton kicked two goals, shut down Coughlan, and was best on ground.

    RECORD OVERALL - Syd 73, Rich 98, drawn 1

AT THIS GROUND - Syd 9, Rich 9

    IN THE 00s - Syd 3, Rich 3

    COACHES - Roos 2, Frawley 1

    BETTING - Syd $1.18,Rich $4.25

    UMPIRES - Stevic, Schmitt, Wenn

    TV - Channel Nine, 1pm

    RADIO - 774 ABC

WHO WILL WIN AND WHY - Without a victory in two weeks and the Tigers coming off a spirited win, the Swans could have a battle on their hands. The height of Richardson and Stafford will be valuable and if the Tigers can be fierce at the man and the ball and manage to hit their targets, it could be close. But, O'Loughlin's return to an already potent forward line will give the Tigers' slow and undersized defence a mighty headache. Ultimately, though, it will be on the ground that the Swans, with their superior skill and ability to move the ball at lightning speed, will have the ascendancy.

PREDICTION - Sydney by 20 points.

    SUNDAY, May 9
SYDNEY v RICHMOND at the SCG, 1.10pm
Head to head: Sydney 73 Richmond 98 Drawn 1
    Last time: Sydney 16.8 (104) bt Richmond 10.12 (72) (R10 2003 MCG).
TAB Sportsbet: Sydney $1.20 Richmond $4
    Centrebet: Sydney $1.22 Richmond $4.25
Luck went Richmond's way last week when it beat Hawthorn by one point. After an impressive start to the season, Sydney has faltered but has an ideal opportunity to get back on track when it welcomes the struggling Tigers to the SCG. Richmond is relying heavily on Nathan Brown, although he did get some weclome support from Brad Ottens last week. The return of ex-Swan Greg Stafford (from suspension) and Matthew Richardson (hamstring) are further boosts. However, the Swans at home should be able to dictate terms.
Key: Sydney continues to get excellent service from forward Barry Hall, while Tigers fullback Darren Gaspar is still finding his way back after a knee reconstruction.
    Tip: Sydney by 30 points.

this week provides a matchup conundrum!

does ball drift back to cover stafford or ottens when they move forward or do we keep rogers in the team just in case or does saddington move back their again? we could see ball playin FB for most of the night if he were to cover a ruckman in the forward line...

or do we go small and have bolton on richo (worked a treat last time), leo on schulz and james on the resting ruckman???

it is almost guaranteed that spud will try and go tall - playing into our hands

who does kirk cover? i would stick him on coughlan if he were playing... i suggest it will be johnson

crouch to cover brown wherever he may roam

the main issue for them is covering our talls!

who will take hall? if i were spud, id put kellaway on him...

we may see the battle of the cripple in gaspar vs o'loughlin

hall to take goodes - and if roosy wants to exploit this, goodesy should move to the wing

this is how see the lineup looking for most of the game:

      fb: james/ottens bolton/richo crouch/brown
      hb: bevan/krakouer leo/schulz kennelly/fiora
      c: mathews/chaffey kirk/johnson maxfield/hilton
      hf: okeefe/campbell hall/kellaway williams/fleming
      ff: goodes/hall oloughlin/gaspar davis/newman
      fol: ball/stafford bolton/tivendale fosdike/hyde
      int: saddington buchanan doyle ablett
      C'mon Chels!

Kellaway on Hall? Would be great for us but can't see it.

Talk on Tiger boards is that Zantuck has been brought back into the side specifically to tackle Hall. IIRC he played on Hall last time we played the Tigers and did pretty well on him. However, Hall wasn't in the form early last season that he's in at the moment. If the Swans can get Bazza enough of the ball he is a chance to run amok.
