    Where to for Roosy?

If the senior players aren't going to put in, does Roosy bite the bullet, make an example of a couple and drom them and replace them with a couple of kids who will put in the effort, or does he give it a couple more weeks and then thing about dropping a more senior player?

We just don't have enough depth to make big changes. And who would you make an example of anyway?

    Drop J Bolton & Fosdike....
....be prepared to lose by 100 pts, our midfield is bad enough as is.

What kids!!! None of ours are suitable to bring in straight away from what I have seen, all those near the fringe have been tried.

It's not the decisions at the selection table that are hurting. It's the lack of decisions in the box. It's the inverse situation to Eade.

Goodes has been wasting his time in the forward line for six weeks. The last time he spent long periods in the middle was against Brisbane, and he was probably our best.

The rotations through the middle aren't working. If you've got Kirk, Williams and Crouch, put them in the middle! Let Fosdike and Bolton find some form WITHOUT close attention. Put O'Keefe in there - he's tough, he's in top form... give him a shot. Buchanan was in his element with the conditions... how much time did he have in the middle? Not enough, however much it was.

MIX it up a little, Roosy... TRY something. Kennelly's not getting it? Ok, so move him up a little to the wing, where he can be creative without having to respond as much to what his opponent is doing!

If what you try doesn't work, so be it. If we lose, so be it... we're losing anyway.

Maybe Malaxos was better than a lot of people considered.

            Where to for Roosy?

DEVELOP A NEW GAME PLAN FOR @@@@S SAKE!

Every time the opposition has played man-on-man, we stop, we have no run, we kick short (wow, good option in the wet), we go sideways, we head for the boundary line and hug it all day.

I thought at half time that although we weren't playing well, at least we were getting clearances quite well. I was optimistic because wit looked like the guys had learnt from last week. In the 2nd half, we got destroyed at clearances.

At quarter time, I was considering naming a new thread "And I thought OUR skills were bad" after watching Richmond fumble their way away from the ball. Yet well before the end of the game it was not their skills that were bad...

Does anyone remeber a bloke called Rodney Eade. He managed to make an art form out of playing the game along the boundary. Last year it looked like Roos empowered the boys to play straight up the guts, nice and direct. Well, for the last two weeks at least, all we've really seen from the Swans is looking more and more like 2 & 3 years ago.

Where is the team from 2003? There is barely any similarity with the rabble that pulled on red socks today. Another close loss - whoopee! A few years ago we did exactly the same, and look where that got us. We look terrible out there, and have done for far too much of this seasons so far.

Is it possible to turn this season around, I hope so, but when? You can mark down a loss next week against the Eagles. So where is our next win coming from?

I dont know if playing in the wet the last two weeks can be attributed to our poor performances, but it still shows we have major deficencies where it matters: in the midfield. We were slaughtered in clearances against Melbourne then Essendon, and now we see the same thing against Richmond - did the ball even come out of their forward line in that last quarter? From where I was sitting, a few of our defenders set up tents back there our midfield decided it was a good place to stay for the rest of the game.

One thing that stood out today was our total lack of ability to hit a target in the forward line. If I was Bazza, I would get the midfielders together and give them a total blasting. The amount of clangers, or even kicks that totally disadvantaged our forwards, were too many too count. So disappointing to see that our forward raids are so easily stopped and then rebounded.

Meanwhile, Richo had a great time of it from his midfielders. C Bolton had no way to stop him the way the ball was coming in.

I'm not sure if there's much point dropping some senior players. Who do you pick? I reckon pretty much the whole team is down on their performance last year. With a lack of big stars in the side, we need EVERYONE pulling their weight, which is clearly not happening.

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

This is spot on but we did have some great form on stoppages in the first half. I thought Bally was doing really well with his ruck work.

Then came the form of hte past few outings.

Bally's disposal has got to be the worst from a senior ruckman anywhere in the comp. He can't field kick, handpasses are also astray and we all know he has given up on kicking for goal.

I thought that we would have some luxury with the Ball, Doyle Goodes combo but all it's done is served to confuse everyone further.

Ball - can ruck, can't kick for goal, can't do a thing in general field play

Doyle - can ruck at times, too slow for qulity general field play, can kick goals but isnt allowed to play there anymore.

Goodes - can ruck, can run around the ground well, disposal around the field is average. Played up forward a lot but crowd's Baz's space.

I want Mick back swiftly and gee bring back LRT too.

My thoughts also. We have been complaining about our midfield work all year. I believe Ross Lyon (who) is the midfield coach. Should be sacked for mine. He has made no mark on this team at all. I stand corrected but didn't he come from Carlton. No good having your mates there Roosey if he can't coach.

Also Roos plays this over rotation through the centre. Highest in the comp. We have no continuity on the field. He is taking off the wrong players at times. Maybe when the likes of Matthews and co. who continuously kick straight to the opposition should be dragged for a change. It is OK to have the strategy of allowing players to redeem themselves, but that's been in since Roosey strarted coaching, which was great to start with and worked last year, but right now he is rewarding mediocrity.

But then again you can't have Matthews, Bolton J, Fosdike, Ball Maxfield, Kennelly (how bad is he going), Kirk etc etc etc. off the ground all at once.

There in lies our real problem. Half the team can't kick for nuts so they handpass ad nausium, turn it over, no one runs to assist or makes a contest and they get slaughtered on the turnover.

I have zero faith in our ability to deliver it well into the forward 50. Zero. So often today we had players like O'Keefe and Davis with the ball in hand on the boundary line at/outside the 45m line, who then tried to pass it off at which point it all came unstuck.

Im more peeved at our disposal from our main midfielders in Williams, Bolton J, and Fosdike. Surely, it wasnt this bad last year. Can you blame this inability to hit targets on Ross Lyon or Roos?

Really, Im surprised Bazza hasnt gotten them together for a few rounds in the boxing ring. Even my girlfriend - who has absolutely no clue about AFL - noted that "the big bald guy has just been walking up and down on the one spot, and whenever they try to kick it to him, the other team catches it first".
