Hope he's alright, if not for today, then for the coming weeks.
Look for Saddo to ruck when Ball rests.

TV boundary ride said the Swans doctor would be surprised if Goodes took to the field again today.

Goodes in the ruck -- now wasn't that a good idea?

It was always going to happen. A matter of when, not if.

its common knowledge that injuries to ruckmen occur most in the centre bounces. What do you expect with two huge men running at full tilt with knees lifted? Now Goodes plays his best footie as a mobile ruckmen, and it was simply bad luck that it happened in the FIRST bounce today. If he has to bash his body in the middle to get back to his brownlow best, then so be it. Its obvious he is hopeless as a permanent forward.

Its the first serious (knee, hope its nothing too serious) injury in a long time, if at all, for Goodes since hes played in the ruck. You look at the ruckmen from all other clubs in the league and you will see that Goodes has been fairly lucky in terms of injury - until today.

Mate - the idea was in the midfield, rucking around the grounds.

I doubt you'll find many disagreements with you that it was a matter of time. Regardless, doesn't change the fact we could be well and truly ****ed.

He never should have been in the centre rucking - he should be a ruck rover.
Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

Where were the complaints last year when Goodes rucked for pretty much most of the year. First when Doyle was injured in the first round, and then when Ball did his shoulderlate in the season? The result? A Brownlow Medal and a preliminary final.

I understand that he may be just as effective as a ruck-rover, but its unfair with the implications that Roos stuffed up by playing him there. Everyone was so excited during the week to hear that Goodes was going back into the middle.

I didn't think be able to continue do it in the future and we desperately needed to get our big guys back and in the centre. It was really only a matter of time. Playing ruck around the ground is fine, and works well, but the centre is very dangerous. It's not like he gets a lot of CB hitouts - he is just good at clearances.

Im happy with that then. We were desparate last year so had no choice but to risk him in the centre. Now with Doyle and Ball fit, we play him as NMW suggested. Cant disagree with that.
