    Zone - or Slow ?

Were we playing zone defence today , or were we just too slow to pick up opponents?
I couldn't believe the times the screen was filled with blue and yellow with just a touch of red and white.

I think we were simply running back into defence when we lost the ball. Except in patches, there seemed to be little pressure on West Coast over much of the ground and they seemed to outnumber us quite often.

Yep. They seemed to have so many players whenever the ball hit the ground, especially when rebounding out of defence.

So it wasn't just me. How the hell could they crumb 75% of the ball....AT BOTH ENDS AND IN THE MIDDLE? Surely we had some players on the ground somewhere.

If only we had 2 or more guys like Kirk who will just fearlessly attack the ball when its on the ground, and then actually be able to get it out. No one, not even Jude Bolton can do that at the moment.

Monty has started to show signs of this in the last fortnight. Whether he can sustain it and get better at it time will only tell but have been impressed by his efforts to keep his hands free and offload.

Monty is looking very likely, I agree. Has genuine pace and seems much better than Jude and Fossy at finding an inch of space amongst the congestion.

The amount of times he started metres behind an opponent and made up the distance quick-as-a-flash was unbelieveable. Looks very, very fast.
