The game has been over for hours and as yet, no one had come in to tell us how woeful our midefield is. From where I sat, and stood, and cheered and sweated, the midefield seemed okay. But the forwards were lacking (Bazza excluded), And our backline was woeful. Can anyone tell me if the ball was ever kicked into our defensive 50 and there was a Swans spoil? It looked like a pretty open run for the Weagles. So we had forwards not converting chances and backs letting Metera, Cousins. Jacovitz score at will. Depressing day at the office all round.
What about the midfield?

Funny I thought the midfield was reasonable today williams cut them up from were I was sitting and kirk was good at the stoppages, the loss of Goodes hurt bad and some poor skill errors hurt too.
Jude Bolton looked to really struggle to get into the game I was watching him he looked drunk, of course he wasn't but he seemed to have know Idea what was going on, oh well bad day at the office I guess. -
One of the problems with the midfield is that it still doesn't seem to put enough pressure on the opposition who seem to have a lot oftime and space, and can thus deliver into the F50 very well. Our backs were pretty poor today, but again, like in previous weeks, the delivery and lack of assistance doesn't help. Our midfield's delivery into our own F50 is very mixed, so despite having a pretty powerful forward line, we probably don't get full use out of it.
At least the midfield were somewhat better today, although Bolton did very little again.Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

Actually funney you mention the pressure of our midfield listening to the radio at the ground that was one of there major comments about the swans that everyone worked hard to push the ball forwad but no one wanted to put the hard work in going back the other way.Comment

Really interesting example of misleading stats.....at one point we lead the clearances about 25-15, but 20 of our so called "clearances" were handballs whilst being tackled and giving it to another bloke running backwards who didn't want it...the other 5 times we scored goals.
The Eagles clearances were nearly always "IN THE CLEAR" and very rarely was the first disposer under much pressure."I'll acknowledge there are more talented teams in the competition but I won't acknowledge that there is a better team in the competition" Paul Roos March 2005Comment

I thought Bolton was one of the guys to help set up the 5 minute flurry in the last q. Just a few glimpses of the kamikaze Bolton of old. It got me thinking that's probably the way he has to play for 4 q's in the coming couple of weeks coz he's trying to play too smart. Just throw yourself in there like you used to, the form might follow from there.Comment

If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.
