We could be the worst ever team to be in the 8!!!

Believe it or not we will probably still be in the 8 come Monday...yes at 3 and 5.

Richmond are 4 and 4 with a percentage of 80%
    Ours is 103%

If Geelong lose to melbourne (likely) and the kangaroos lose to Port (very likely) then we will still (ridiculouly) be in the 8....fully 3 games and percentage from 6th.
essendon have the same percentage as us (104% if you want to be pedantic), but are 6 and 2. Sheesh we just can't eat the roast once we get to the table.

I suppose our good percentage will be a huge advantage when we start winning again.

I think Geelong may beat Melbourne so we'll be out of the eight but it could go either way.

Two games at home against Hawthorn and the Bulldogs present a great chance to get back to 5 and 5 and maybe put the season back on track. By then Shaubs should be back and things start looking a lot better.

For the time being I simply can't accept that Richmond are above us on the table. Wake me up from this nightmare!!

Yeah Richmond at 4-4 is scary. But don't worry we play the two teams they beat in recent rounds, Hawks and Dogs.

Richmond was meant to put us back on track.

Hawthorn has resurrected their season more than once against us!

I wonder which team will put our season back on track. Any volunteers?

No-one will put our season back on track - we usually do it for the other team.

If we finally find some forward, which we are due for, we can scrape into the bottom 4 of the 8 and try and do some damage from there.

Well looking at scores as they stand right now, we won't be in the 8 after this round.

10th spot. Don't deserve to be in the 8 after the last 4 weeks.

If we get our act together then the eveness of the comp this year will work in our favour. It was noted in the Hawks Freo game that both teams had kicked about the same number of goals but Freo is in 6th and the Hawks in 15th. Only one team looks unbeatable so far (the Saints) with both Brisbane and the Bombers looking strong.

Over the next few rounds we face
                          Hawks
                          Doggies
                          Saints
                          Port
                          Pies

We could win all of them (though that seems unlikely) and we have the advantage of four of them being in Sydney. If you tipped home teams this weekend you'd have scored 7 out of 8.

Interesting to see Leigh Matthews watching the Freo game.

Too early to say it's all over but I think that Paul Roos needs to work on developing the team. He must be struggling to just find 22 players for the game each week right now. Those talking about dropping the players who aren't performing at their best are not thinking well. Drop Paul Williams to bring in whoever is next up in reserves? I think the preseason Blues game showed that our reserves aren't up to AFL standard - but none are (that's why they are reserves).

Right now we have the fortune to be able to blood the next generation because our injuries include Schneider, Goodes, Schauble, LRT and Meiklejohn as well as Sunny, Luke Taylor, Malceski and Hunt. And there are still some people querying why Nicky D and the Tiger are playing injured? Under AFL rules we only have to have a minimum of 14 players on the field but I don't think that'll work well.

Ideally, we'll have our team at near-full strength for the back half of the season when other teams are suffering from their inevitable injuries. We should hope to win each week but if we don't we should be looking at how the new kids are developing. Some are playing bloody good footy from the word go - others aren't. Let's give them a chance. Besides we don't have any other option.

And there's a lot of talk about scrapping half the team and getting a new lot. That largely means taking another team's reject - or losing a player or players we want to keep. Or giving away the youngsters we know in the off chance we'll get lucky with a youngster we don't.

We don't want mediocrity and we don't want to endure the pain of rebuilding. Got another idea? Or we can go for a shot at glory and buy a superannuated star who can carry us to the heights. That's working pretty well for Adelaide. . . Oh, I forgot: no it isn't. . .

I think we'll just have to enjoy the highlights as they appear. Watching Micky work his magic again yesterday was great and I enjoyed watching Nicks being dependable. I expect to watch Bevan, Buchanan, Powell and McVeigh develop each round. And it'll be a highlight to watch Schneider and Goodes and Schauble run onto the field again.

Could be worse - how would we go if Bazza sustained an injury?

It will be interesting to see how the team responds to dropping out of the 8.
