    Strategy for remaining games

If you were the coaching panel advising Roosey what would be your advice for the remaining games?

The reality now is that the season is basically over from a top 4 spot. I would rather now focus on next season by looking to give as much experience to future players.

Shaubs by being out for all games this season means the backline needs a major surgery for next season if we are to be a force. We need to find/recruit a FB and CHB who in time can be like Mal Michael and Leppich. They need to be big and strong with plenty of run. Maybe we need to aim for less than 5 wins to get a priority pick.

Another quality midfielder is needed who can kick long. Cressa is being missed big time and Jude has not stepped up to the elite level IMHO.

The forward line is OK when all fit. Micky needs to get himself really fit (somehow). Maybe give him the rest of the season off so he can get his hamstrings/knee right.

Give Doyle the 1st ruck mantle for the remainder of the season to see if he has got it. He needs quality game time or get rid of him if Roosy does not plan to. Goodesy needs time to rest his knee and keep him out of the centre bounces from now on before he really hurts his knee.

Daryn Cresswell = most overrated Swans players of the last 10 years

Most of his possessions were handballs to teammates who were clearly under the pump.

Take off your rose coloured glasses.

Tanking games to get a priority pick doesn't work. Especially when you're looking for KPPs. It is impossible to pick up a ready made KPP in the National Draft. Quite simply, bodies are not developed at age 18 to be able to compete with players 10 years older and with 10 pre-seasons under their belt.

So, if you're looking to turn this year into an opportunity to win a cup in 2006, you're dreaming.

Take a look at St Kilda - off the young guns they picked up through so many bad seasons, their KPPs (Koschitzke, Riewoldt) were the ones they drafted earlier and their smaller players (Ball, Dal Santo etc) came later on, because physical development is not as crucial for them.

Note how they are putting it together at the same time because with the exta year or 2 needed for the KPPS, it has come together at the same time.

If we're going to rely on priority picks and the like - which I sure as hell hope we don't because financially with the fickle Sydney market, we can't afford 3-4 years near the bottom - look to 2008-2010 as our next chance, because there is no way we will be ready to do anything before then relying on building from the draft.

        I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.

Tanking games(I've never heard that expression) would give us high picks which could be traded for good players. I don't see any point in scraping into the 8 or coming 9-12. We need quality players and you don't get them for nothing in return. Besides I don't think we'll need to deliberately lose - we will do it anyway. We are just not a good team and we don't have many good players. But worst of all I just can't see much talent coming on. Also when you are out of the finals race losses don't hurt as much. I can live with it as a means to an end.

The bottom line is WE NEED MORE TALENTS . The easiest way to get those is through tanking games. Whichever form the talents come (e.g. tall, short, young or ready-made) is secondary.

How quick we are to jump off.

What we need is our full team on the ground. At least Micky got through the game, but then we lose Goodes. It is not our year for injuries. Get 'em all back in 5-6 weeks and we can still make the 8.

If we manage to scrape into the 8 with our best side anything can happen.

I say we go in hard, and try to be nuisance value to everyone above. We now have nothing to lose.

Above all, we must never ever give up, like we seemed to have done in the last few weeks.

This is bullshi t , we do have good players - this team of players came 3 rd last year ! That is the problem, you, the club and even the coach (roos has said as much ) and the players don't think they are good enough. This is so circa 1997. It makes me think that there is some negative energy creating the same pattern. Different year different players and coaches same old problem. What problem would that be ?? despite having gooplayers, this club can never string good seasones together - why ? becuase they do not beleive they are good enough!l

The problem, Penga, with saying this year is a rebuilding year, is that the team being picked each week has not reflected that. Doyle needs to be in the side each week for his development. But he was dropped this week. Davis is playing injured - that doesnt help anyone's rebuilding.

I'm not saying that I disagree that this year is a rebuilding year. All I'm saying is that the club is not approaching it in that way.
