They'll want another slogfest. We need to rise above it.

Or we'll spur yet another team into overachieving.
Our coaching staff obviosuly know that they will slow the ball down and hope for a grind. Thankfully, the weather is looking like its going to be fine. I wonder how Roos will try to counter this. Easiest way would to use the corridor and kick long.

      [

At the other end they have worries too....

      Barry Hall - Trent Croad
      Michael O'Loughlin - Danny Jacobs
      Ryan O'Keefe - Joel Smith
      Jason Saddington - Mark Graham
      Nick Davis - Michael Osborne
      Paul Williams - Chance Bateman

      ]

Think some of these match-ups might be different.

That slowing the game down disadvantages us another way too. Last year we were the best finishing team in the competition. Much of that was our superior fitness. This year, our opposition has slowed the game down enough that they weren't tired by the last quarter either - the Bombers were the only real exception and we nearly succeeded.

If we fall behind - or it's close - and it's a slow game we have no chance to overun them in the last quarter.

I might be tempted to suggest that Crouchy might go with the Williams kiddy. Not exactly sure where that leaves Leo. In fact I might be tempted to put him on Lekkas and try and free Tadhg up as a loose man in defence.

Tadhg needs to get some run (with the bloody ball) going and soon because his reputation in this area is fading fast!

Article this week in the HS confirmed that Holland was still a couple of weeks away from pushing his way back into the side and that Thompson was no certainity to force his way back in straight away as he was beleived to be dropped before he was ruled out sick.

You are correct with Dickson and Hay they are definately out.

I agree Bevan on Williams except I am not sure about Bevo in the air, Williams is quite a good mark for his size?

I've been very impressed with Bevan's marking ability, not so much over his head but he's taken a number of them when he had to stand his ground and accept he was going to get crunched. He's just kept his eye on the ball, not worried about what is going on around him and nailed them.

Spot on Lizz. He does have a bit of the Chapman about him in that respect, doesn't he?

His game vs Ess showed he could definitely take a pressure mark...but I agree that he hasn't shown himself to be much of a pack climber yet.

Thompson and Holland are playing for Box Hill, apparently so they won't be a problem this week.
