Roos admitted yesterday that he took a chance on Davis being able to play through the injury which was influenced by the absence of goal-kicking wizard Michael O'Loughlin (hamstring) and goal sneak Adam Schneider (hamstring).

In fairness to Schwass, Buchanan has a great work ethic he just hasn't taken that next step yet and seeing he is on borrowed time (Schinder) that is a little disappointing, but like Schwass I think we would all love to see Buchanan to make it, could be a stoppage specialist if he can get consistancey(spelling) into his game.

Buchanan has only played three games this year - in one he did little more than tackle and harass (though he did that well) before being dropped.

But the last two weeks, some of his work around the stoppages has been superb. He's may only be touching the ball 10 times or so, but each of those touches has been constructive and mostly through traffic. For the 21st or 22nd player on the team sheet they have been two decent cameo performances.

Agreed, and I'm not suggesting a permanent role there, just that he might give us something down there for at least parts of games. He has scored some smart crumbing goals / snaps in previous seasons as well.

Very few players are able to survive as career crumbers. Phil Matera is clearly the exception to that rule amongst current players and young Davey is also giving it a decent go at the moment. Players like Leon Davis, Jeff Farmer, Steven Milne, Leigh Harding, Ronnie Burns etc struggle to make any contribution to games when they are struggling as FPs because they have few other strings to their bows. And most of us are hoping that Schneider will spend his career predominantly as a midfielder, not a crumbing forward.

If we ever had a full team, that's where I see Nick D. He doesn't have enough application for the midfield. Pebbles and Schneider are well able to play both - I hope they develop into the role of Paul Williams at his best - with the same long accurate kicking.

Davis would be wasted in that role. A full side, and a fully fit one, he should be playing in the midfield more, at worst pushing up on a flank.

We want Davis where he can kick goals - he's one of the best in the league. In the meantime, rotating Fosdike through midfield and forward sounds a good idea to me.

okeefe, hall and davis is an excellent HF line, they are all strong marks, with long raking kicks who can come up and meet the ball... davis isnt much of a crumber...

mcrae is another exception for the rule lizz
