Yep. He did a sensational job for a legged non-ruckman.

Moved a bit awkward at times, but never gave up and outmarked his opponent a couple of times.

Sit him in the goal square.

But not next week. And certainly not the week after!

He can have the weekend of the 19th/20th June off

        I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

Red, ill pay you this one mate... i really thought that a defencive position would curtail goodesy's flamboyancy, however, he has been trying to be too flamboyant in the forward line recently and he settled down a bit back there

however, im not highly convinced that he did a better job than what james couldve done today, as a backman... particularly that it was hawthorn's 'forwards' - like jacobs - that he was matched up on... thats why when croad took him to the goalsquare he started to dominate, this was mainly due to goodesy's tentativeness towards his knee and his lack of speed

the jury is definitely well out on this matter, IMO, but it showed that it could work

also, IMO, if goodesy is to become our CHB, he would need both schauble and bolton/james to be back there as well; mainly so that we can determine the matchups and keep him out of the goalsquare and at the true CHB position
          C'mon Chels!

For me, Bolton will actually be of more value up the ground (centreline) than as a backman IF we can get our full strength defensive line-up on the field at the same time. He has the skills to be a creative player and set things up for our forwards.

I love your optimism. Right now the challenge is finding anyone in the back line fit to play. No Heath, no Schauble. How lucky were we that Goodes could play and, while he got beaten a bit, he did add some size to our backs.

I've just got a bad feeling about the way Goodsey is with his knee. I'm more concerned long term than short term. So what, we've got two big games coming up. But what abou the other 11+ games?
If u don't believe me, I will knock your bloody teeth out and not pay you a cent.

According to Roos today once the knee has stabilised - as it has or he couldn't play at all - then it's just a matter of learning to play through the pain. From now on it doesn't get any better or worse.

Dr Gibbs said that he couldnt do any more damage to the knee by playing (unless someone fell on it *touch wood*). Its just a matter of getting used to using other muscles around the knee to provide more support.

Absolutely. I don't think Goodes is a better backman than James, or any of our full-time defenders for that matter (seeing as Saddo is no longer full-time). But he's taller, faster, and he won't be thrown around by anybody.

You're right of course, it wasn't a great test against Jacobs & Barker -- which is just as well all things considered. But he shut them down completely. And if they had kicked even one more goal between them, that could've been the difference a win & a loss.

Optimistically, when Goodes' knee heals and he gets more experience in the role, I don't see why he couldn't be competitive against quality forwards -- esp. the 'gorillas' that usually give us some much trouble.

When (& if) Schauble returns, if we leave Goodes at CHB and have James in a pocket, suddenly our defence looks awesome on paper, and definitely not undersized.

Once he gets his mobility back - he belongs back in the midfield.

Yesterday, he wasn't playing really accountable footy. He was collecting a loose ball gets... but when he was forced into a true defensive contest - I wasn't confident in his ability to win the ball.

There seems to be a prevailing attitude that just because he's tall, he has to be a KPP. That's not the case.

I'd like to see him in the midfield as a ruck rover type, but he perhaps has the potential to be a CHB of the Leppitsch style. As he learns the game better, he can become a pinch hitter all over the ground, kind of like Pavlich is.
Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

Well, I've always believed in the Tooth Fairy. But, then again, I believe the times shown on the official Swans injury list.
