To some degree I blame that on O'Loughlin for not telling him he was clear.

4 points + confidence boost = Successful game.
But the problem with just a win, any way it was done, is that it doesn't necessarily translate into a confidence boost.
Still, it has more chance of doing so than a loss!!

Originally posted by Charlie We own this game - we're not playing brilliantly, but we're playing on our terms. That's an improvement on recent weeks.
Goodes worries me. Picking up plenty of possessions (yes Red, in defence) but they aren't contested ones... he's more or less a sweeper. I don't want that knee given any close scrutiny by the Hawks, 'cause it's obviously fragile.
Thanks for the nod Charlie
I thought he went really well down back. Although he wasn't really against quality forwards, he marked, spoiled & punched at the right times, and rebounded incredibly well for a guy on one leg!
He did have to be taken off Croad, who fortunately Leo did the job on. But it's Goodes' first game soley in defence for years. And how much better would he be if he hadn't ruptured his PCL 7 days ago! Just his presence meant that we wern't totally undersized down there -- for a change.
I'm just so impressed with his courage -- it's inspirational really. Schabule takes over half a season to get over a hamstring, and Goodes' plays a week after a serious knee injury.
To all those people who waited 72 years to see a South Melbourne/Sydney Swans premiership HERE IT IS!!
Very very very very lucky. Always happy with a win, but gee if that was a Top 8 side playing us today we would of been killed. At least today there was some heart and passion about our play because we just didn't give in like we did against the Tigers when they hit the front.
Our defence did stuggle after quarter time with the Hawks height, but at least we started to see the kind of play we saw last year from the defence, the run off half back returned with both Kennelly and Barry having their best matches of the season and surprise surprise it was because they were allowed to play their normal style of play.
Again I was pleased with the effort of young Bevan down back. This kid has what it takes to make it to the top. Also happy with Buchanan, this kid is just putting his body on the line and trying to make something out of nothing.
The form of Saddo was also pleasing. I think he has found his true spot in the team, as a resting ruckman who can play though the middle the rest of the game. He was everywhere today.
Warfe, I hope you enjoyed your last game in the AFL, because its clear once and for all, that you add nothing to the team at this current time. Why bring him into the side over Mark Powell who at least would of benefited from the game time is beyond me.
