    Quote of the day

While he was being interviewed by Troy Luff Nick Davis made some smart comment about how it's hard to fit all those egos in the forward 50. Then he said that he looked goalwards at one stage today and saw Bazza, Magic and Goodsey all in the forward 50 - "There's 75% of our salary cap right there. . . And I get the other 25% so the rest of them do it for the love of the game."

He was also asked about helping the Cronulla Sharks with their kicking and replied "Well I can't tackle so I can't help with that. And have you seen them play recently? They can't tackle either so they can't help me."

When asked about League scandals he said his own mobile would be off for the next three weeks.

It actually was a good AM ... one of the best (not least that we won!).

There were 4 or 5 players there straight away ... Nicky D and Mark P spoke ... a couple of youngsters there as well. Then Roosy came up and gave us some a good amount of time.

They also played the coach's press conference AND turned up the volume so we could hear what was being said.

Add that to a lot of happy people .....
      Dream, believe, achieve!

I also spoke briefly to Troy Luff who mentioned that he knew quite a few Sydney fans were unhappy about how many players turned up to interstate aftermatch functions compared with the two we get here - and neither of today's pair was on the field today. As he said "you can't please everyone".

It was on a screen in the back corner of the room when there was some dead time with just music playing, so we asked the guy looking after AV to change the screens by the stage to it and cue the audio too. It seemed very well received instead of just music playing.

Luffy, might be another option for future AMs - particularly in those periods when we are waiting for players to come up after warm-downs, showers etc.

          I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.

Surely you kid, our aftermatches down in Melbourne are far better than Sydney because we get the entire team to show up, plus there is no need to entertain us so we can meet up with friends and talk about the game without being drowned out by the ****y pop music and meaningless games.

Don't start that "Sydney folk are so superficial that they need lots of bright colours and movement rubbish". You sound like Dame Edna when you do. What no mention of chardonnay? Luffy (who says he likes to put faces to the names on RWO) said today that he's just trying different stuff and going with what seems to work.

Maybe it's just that the SCG is so much more child friendly and he's trying to keep all the kids entertained too. But in the spiritual home of footy perhaps you'd do better to get someone from the Melbourne Club to deliver a diatribe about how AFL is the bastard child of VFL, the true religion of Victoria.

I've never been to an AM in Sydney before, But the playing of the coaches press conference is a really good idea I think.

As for that Melb/Syd crap coming out in this thread... boy what a chip on your shoulder you've got GS. Mayhaps the truth hurts? (that's me being mean) I really don't think Robbie meant anything by it though. I think he was more reiterating what many sydney based RWOers have already commented about with regards to the AMs.

                Relax

I think what we need in Melbourne is Luffy to do the aftermatches, Stubbsey just doesn't do it as well. We need to start a lobby group to "Bring Luffy to Melbourne"

Sorry if I over reacted but it was brought up about a week ago and I didn't bother to respond. But after a win to get it started again was annoying and I responded.

I wasn't and I haven't before. Just pointing out that the after matches in Melbourne seem to be more enjoyable than the ones in Sydney, because of many different reasons, mainly because all the players turn up and we get the chance to meet up with friends and are able to hear what we are saying.

Luffy (who says he likes to put faces to the names on RWO) said today that he's just trying different stuff and going with what seems to work.
Again, I know the effort to which Luffy goes to make these After matches as enjoyable as possible. However as many on here have pointed out before to Luffy, they like to use the After Match to meet up with friend and talk about the game, something they can't do with the pointless loud music that is played, surely this music could be turned down a little. I personally don't have a problem with the games because they do keep the crowd entertained until the players do turn up.

Maybe it's just that the SCG is so much more child friendly and he's trying to keep all the kids entertained too.
That may be so, but what do you think happens in Melbourne. Do you think Children don't go because after the players leave we get the strippers out or something? Children go to the Melbourne after matches and seem to be entertained just as well as the children in Sydney are. BTW The two times I have been to the after matches, these games have been played by a few adult drunks trying to make fools out of themselves and Gemma

But in the spiritual home of footy perhaps you'd do better to get someone from the Melbourne Club to deliver a diatribe about how AFL is the bastard child of VFL, the true religion of Victoria.
We don't need someone to get and say something we already know is true

Fair points. I didn't notice any loud music yesterday and there was lots of time to catch up with everyone before they started pushing us towards the door. A BIG improvement over the last time I went was that Paul Roos turend up long after I thought the formalities were over and he was interviewed well by Luffy.

It's a learning process but this one was much better than before - and it wasn't just because we'd won either. Well, not completely.
