    Rule of the Minute

Do umpires not pay 50m penalties anymore??

Over the past month I have watched lots of games and seen a lot of scragging, pushing down and holding of the player who has just taken a mark.

Not once have I seen a 50 paid. You used to see these all time.

One by Jacobs yesterday comes to mind and of course there was the Hardwick one on Schneider in last year's final.

They can't judge how far 15m is, how are they going to judge 50m???

But I agree, it happens all the time. They used to pay 50 for going over the mark, but that doesn't happen much anymore either.

I saw Lloyd have a free paid AGAINST him in the Cats game. The free was obvious to all, the rest of the ground had stopped, Lloyd collected the ball (pretending to play to advantage) and then he kicked a goal.

Left everyone waiting for the ball to come back, it was a clear 50m penalty. Another example of the Umps love of Lloydy!
