    Some Observations

Great to see my beloved Swannies win. But.....

    Some observations:
Why do we only play well in the first and third quarters?
What is wrong with our goal kicking?
Why do we overuse the football?
How come we can't put the opposition away?
Does Barry Hall have any brains?
Sad to see Saddington do his knee.
Is O'Laughlin going to be fit again?
    Leo Barry is an inspiration.
Paul Williams gets heaps of the ball but holds onto it too long.
No. 32 is a bit special at times.

Jude played really well - best game of the year by far.
Also Jason Ball did a lot of good work.
    Tadhg seemed more confident.
    We hate Anthony Rocca
    We hate Shannon Grant too
    We hate scumbag Gaspar
    But Leo WE LOVE YOU!

Pretty much, which is a big win for us.

And Doyle didn't get much game time by the look of it?

            A few more.

We have a seriously poor kicking side.
Why do we kick blind when 20 metres clear?
In what century will they hit a leading forward on the chest consistently from free, fully balanced kicks coming through centre.
Half the side has no brains.
Why did M.O'L kick to Hall on the lead when Johnson was in the hole? So bleeding obvious from the camera angle that the only option was top of the square.
Barry Hall must suffer from the moon's cycles.
We got back the hard at it aspect of our game.
            McVeigh can play.
Backline is back in town-at least until next week.

And has been doing so all this seasone. It is as if he is trying to carry the whole team on his back. Trying to do too much. He is good, but he is not that good.

why does Jude Bolton always kick in-board from the right wing? The next receiver thinks about it, and kicks short to another player. He thinks about it some more - meanwhile, the Dogs get he flood going - and then he decides to kick it back to Bolton in EXACTLY the same spot he was in a minute ago.

Gee I'd love for Roos to employ a play-on-at-all-costs team rule sometimes. But, like I've always said: as long as we win, I dont care how they go about it.

I think Williams only held onto the ball too long twice - which is not bad out of 30 possessions!!

Goal kicking aside, I thought this was the best, most even effort of the season so far, including the Roos game. The final quarter was a bit of a drag but they still created six scoring shots and muffed a couple of others.

Best games of the year yet from Jude, Willo and Kennelly. Buchanan's first half was superb. McVeigh was very classy. Nog did some nice stuff. Maxfield demonstrated that he clearly has not lost the ability to put the foot on the accelerator when he needs to.

Still heaps of room for improvement but solid contributions right across the team and that's got to be a good indication that the team is heading in the right direction.

I thought Ablett did very little.

                      Doyle didn't do much again.

                      O'Keefe was fairly quiet.

Agree with this. Tadhg seems to have his confidence back - I think that bump to the ribs knocked him around more than we realised. He seems to be putting his body on the line again now and it's really making a difference.

Huge credit to Monty that Rohde made the change to push Smith up the ground after halftime to actually get into the game as he really sets up so much of their play from HB. Add Monty's goals to it and you have a great performance.

I have been critical of Stuey earlier this year, but his past couple of weeks have been far far better and IMHO last night was his best for the season as well.

On the downside, our delivery into our forward 50 was terrible. Why would you keep trying to bomb it long to Bazza when 1) He has Grant playing on him, one of the guys who actually can match him for strength and 2) they have 2 or 3 more players around to just drift across and take the mark. Surely trying to get him on the lead would be more effective, or even better, if they're playing 3 men on him, there should be someone else free???

                        I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.
