Kirk attracting extra attention?

is it just me, or is Captain Kirk being touched-up by the opposition a lot more this season?

He did a great job limiting Scott West's influence on Saturday night, although there seemed to be lots of occassions when other Bulldogs players were niggling, elbowing and charging Kirk to help West - especially Garlick.

I absolutely LOVE the way Kirk plays!

He ONLY ever has eyes for the ball and when he does get bullied by opposition, he cops it on the chin. He truely is what Sydney is about.

Did anyone else notice how disrespectful Rowan Smith was to Monty? Who by the way had another terrfic game!

I think there has definitely been a little more attention. But no more than any other player receives around the contested situations. I wouldn't say he's dropped his colours in any way shape or form this year.

There was some talk of teams trying to remove him from stoppages earlier in the year by leading him out of the packs...but I don't think anything the other teams have tried has made too much of an impact. Considering the types of players he usally lines up on, the further he is from the ball the worse off the opposition is anyway.

Kirk remains a machine and still has my vote for next in line for captain after Stewie

i'm also a huge fan of Kirk and his game, it's inspirational. he plays with so much determination and commitment, though doesn't seem to let emotions undermine his game.

isn't it ironic that last year's 'best tagger' has become the target of opposition tagging efforts?!

I've always liked the way Smith plays. A few years ago when he was off contract I was hoping we could pick him up. But given his antics the other night, I've lost some of that respect I had for him.

I was particularly annoyed while watching the replay, seeing him and Goldstink having a cosy little chat with each other, both all smiles, just after he'd manhandled Monty.

On Garlick. He was just snipping all night. He was really getting spiteful at times.

How about that free he got in the second half on Mathews, when Mathews barely touched him but he fell to the ground with all limbs flailing?

Smith (and coaching staff) must not have realised how great Amon can be. Why would you leave him all alone in the goal square!?

That snickering (Smith and Goldspink) really bothered me, "Don't worry Smith, I'll put him on an angle so it's an effort!" or "Don't you worry Smith, I'll make sure you get one back!" ERGH!

Lizz, I don't mind players being awarded free kicks or 50s but they should be granted. I'm unsure whether some of these players walk around the streets of Melb with padding on their legs, because if a little bump like that leads to him falling to the floor, arms flailing about then he must be constantly picking himself up of the pavement in everyday life!

the swans get bad umpiring at the scg..most teams get the umpires on their side at home...but we get a better deal away from home

Can't agree with this... sorry. Did you watch the Bombers game this year?
I do pick up on a lot of Sydney umpiring decision, but given our past record with umpires, I think I have every right to!
It's lovely to hear the booing of the umpires off the ground.

i think we get rubbish umpiring in melbourne too... the essendon one was a shocker.. just is wierd we get bad umpiring at home and its so bad even the awful away umpiring is good compared to it.... basically what im saying is the swans get bad umpiring..full stop

I agree with you Schneider girl - unbelievable chat and sniggering between smith and umpire. Why are they doing this chatting between offender and umpire??

Some of the umpiring decisions against us were poor, but I think the 'Dogs would have reason to complain too. There were some poor decisions/non-decisions in our favour as well.
