Too early to pick one figure.

31,500 if baz is suspended and it's fine weather
34,500 if baz plays and it's fine weather
29,500 if baz is suspended and it's wet weather
32,500 if baz plays and it's wet weather

Our form hasn't been wonderful and that might keep some people away.

Whether we win or not, the point is that the boys will go in and have a go. I've been hassling all the people I know to go and buy tickets, because the crowd will be awesome- the supporters are definately going to get behind the swannies to lift their confidence. In terms of numbers, its a sunday afternoon game, so the families should go out to watch. It'll definately be a huge game.

            I agree, it is pissweak.

Like how many times do you want to see Adam Goodes burst a balloon?

The TV ad for the Swans, and the AFL in general, have been lame for years. Remember those two codgers standing at the MCG gates.

The game needs something along the lines of its "I'd like to see that" campaign to help give it a kick start in the northern states. Marketing the Swans alone is not good enough, when the whole code needs exposure.

Personally I think the Swans are off queue with the market they targets. Especially for day matches familes are still more the go, but night crowds attract a totally different type of spectator-one generally up for a good night out .

The Swans are competing not just with other sports and more abstract things like going to the pictures or even going out clubbing. You attend sports because of the way it makes you feel afterwards. The feeling after a close win is indescribable. That is more of what the Swans should market, the exhilaration for people out for that adrenalin rush on a Saturday night.

I know it is the adrenalin factor that keeps me going to the footy every week. (Hence the withdrawal when I don't have it each week.)Trying to capture that in our advertising will win us many new fans.

But that means that the atmosphere has to lift to 1997 standards. Hopefully a big game and a fired up Swans team with nothing to prove will do just the thing. Follow Mark Gasnier and FIRE UP everybody!!!!

Has anyone seen the "Grassroots Weekend" ad - it's bloody brilliant!

But yes, the promotion for the St Kilda game has been pretty poor. I thought the "Right Here Right Now" ads they had earlier this year were great...

I have just looked on the Ticketek website and there are only concourse and ga tickets available as grandstands are sold out.

They should pretend we are playing Geelong - still never really figured out why we pulled such big crowds for them.

Now, forget about the free chardonney - if they served some half-decent beer, they might get a few more in. Does anyone drink that stuff (Carlton Draught) normally ?

A couple of mates who I got along for finals last year have bought tickets (of their own accord), so:

The media hyped up the Ablett/Lockett thing, plus in 1996 when they got the 44,000 crowd, the Swans were getting massive hype from the Sydney media, Rugby league was in a cival war, and we were playing the previous years runners up.

I can't even remember if Ablett even played in the 1997 game with the 46,000 crowd, but the media certainly had fun hyping it up as a possible last time they were both on the field together etc!

I'll definitely be there despite the fact I have a cold and am going out Sat. night. As for a crowd figure I think aroud 32500.

I've also heard the term Mexicans applied to NSWelshmen who play the game, invented in Mexico.

Don't know what they call an Aussie who follows Rules and lives in London.

I seem to remember one match they hyped up considerably and Ablett did not get up through injury, perhaps that was 1997, at the end of one match they met and shook hands with a perfunctory grunt at the end of the game, that would be a fair photo today I'd say!

I seem to remember Peter Carey caning us 8 frees to 1 in a quarter vs Geelong and we still won was that 96 or 97 too, any memories?
