    OMG Sam Newman tipped us

Everyone reckons they are up for a loss and it will be this week, I hope our players don't think it's going to be easy

Same here. Sam tipped Goodes to win the Brownlow on the first episode of last year's Footy Show. While I generally think he's a buffoon, he also has an uncanny ability to predict the correct result from left-field. Go Bloods!!! I've tipped the 'Aints (in a close one that exposes all of St. Kilda's vulnerabilities).

What do you perceive the sainters vulnerabilities to be at this stage ??

They lack toughness, have a genuine lack of pace, and havent got any decent KPP players. They dont have any goal-kicking crumbers in the forward line, and generate virtually no run out of the back half. They are an ageing side in decline, no doubt about it.

Seriously though, their only weakness so far is their ruck division. But it doesnt matter when your midfield is that good.

I'm not really sure. I like their stuff for H&A footy, Finals is something else (look at Brisbane). They seem to be playing an almost explicitly tough brand of football this year (which probably accounts for all of their suspensions). We may get some favourable umpire attention, but with BBBBH's "win" at the office this week, I don't really know. Its great to see something "right" happening at a Footy club (like St. Kilda), I just wish there was alot more of it happening our way. I'm hoping our experienced forward line can remember its accuracy at goal from last year and make a mockery of the Saint's defence. Someone also needs to take account for Gehrig (I see him kicking 6-8).

See this I can relate to.
I love Footy. A football team is like a hand built very fast sports car(F1). All the parts have to be working perfectly. When it is working like that a good team is an absolute joy to watch. The balance is just so fine. So far the Swans have not shown that amount of unity this year. They do in sperts but that is not the same thing. If the Saints manage to play their beautiful brand of free flowing footy on the SCG, then I wont complain. As long as the Swans make a game of it.

Sam partly tipped us to be a bit 'out of left field'

I wouldn't read too much into it.

Sam is actually very clever and shrewd and his biggest weapon is people under-estimating and thinking that he is an idiot.

If you listen to the questions that he asks when he interviews someone either on the radio or the Footyshow - they are very incisive and get straight to the point.

For instance - last night on the footy show he asked Clinton Casey - "If you say that Spud is an experienced coach why did you go and say that what the Richmond Football Club needed was an experienced coach".

To Ian Dicker, Hawthorn President -
"In a crisis, wouldnt it be better for Hawthorn fans that they see someone with resolve as opposed to everyone crying, players have depresssion, etc."

Australian Story did a great episode on him a few years back.

Well he is an idiot, but I agree he can be confrontational and entertaining with his interviews sometimes.

From what I understand John Newman is not the same person as Sam Newman - the latter is a character he portrays on TV.
Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

"[T]here are things that matter more and he's reading and thinking about them: heaven, reincarnation. Life and death are the only things that are truly a matter of life and death. Not football."
