Humble Pie - Nicks/ BotonJ flavours

How many of us are eating large slices of Humble Pie tonight.

I for one bagged Jude Bolton a few weeks ago and rightly so. But hats off to him, I would think his game today was about his best.
Lets hope he can keep up the intensity.

Now Mathew Nicks. How many people on this site had him hung, drawn and quartered. The great thing about his turnaround is that he has given us multiple options up forward, and has even allowed O'Keefe to move up the ground.

Welcome back Nicksy, and may there be many more top games. Thank goodness you weren't traded.

Eat your humble pie in little pieces Nicksy knockers, lest you choke on the large slices you are tucking into as your penance.

I was a Nick's knocker, and I am eating my fat slice right now. I was a bit worried when he missed that easy one early; he really could have had 5 goals today!

Good on ya Nicksy, you provided us with another solid target up forward.

I had my Nicks flavoured humble pie for a late lunch.

      It was actually quite tasty.

I wont be eating humble pie with regards to nicks as he is doing what is required the only positive is now he maybe worth something to trade or possibley we may give him a extension on his contract but I still can't see him being more than a spare parts player when we have a full list, top game though goodluck.

I don't think anyone should eat humble pie on anything until the end of the season...

Still a long way to go folks!

Today's performance will give Nick's (not to mention the whole team!) a massive boost. He kicked 4 goals against a decent defensive unit, so Im willing to bet he will play out the rest of the season in our forward line as the third tall, in place of Saddo.

Jude Bolton, however, clearly had a brain explosion after getting a free for the mark/push. Passing to Leo (twice) under pressure resulted in a goal. The rest of his game was good.

I thought Nicks would be stuck on 149 games forever.

                  I'm glad I was wrong.

I'm surprised Bron hasn't joined in this already - Jude had a terrific game, just as intense as ever but even more accurate. A wonderful asset. And good to see Matty back in touch.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Another very good game from Bolton following on from last week. Just two problems - one was his obvious stuff up in the 3rd qtr, and a number of times he came over the top to do ruck work, punching it forward, but quite often there were only St.Kilda players forward of the ball, hence not much advantage to us.

Nicks is playing outstandingly well at HFF - very useful.

That's crap, he was very average up until a couple of weeks ago.

haha ... just my opinion. I know he's never going to be one of the greats. The way he played today, is what I expect of him. His workrate has definitely lifted in recent weeks.
