Was just skimming through the 'current' injury stories on the website (note that there are some pertaining to Kelly, Cressa, Tingay...) and found this, just to give us all a little hope:

"...Barry is a renowned fast healer who last season (2001) made amazingly quick recoveries from a knee arthroscope and a torn quadricep muscle..."

Yeah, Schneider did his hammy 5 weeks ago, and they said it was a 6 week injury at the time. Now its still saying 3 weeks. The season is half gone and Schauble has been on 3 weeks for the last 6.

anyone have any news on why Powell and Thewlis weren't playing in the reserves last week? Were named to play according to the scoreboard at 1/2 time. Saw powell chatting in the sun with Schneids, but didn't sight Joshy.

Also another point to back up Monopoly19. Leo recovered extremel quickly from his near death injury of a ruptured spleen, at AAMI a couple of years ago. (not sure on how long he was out for, but it wasn't overly long for that type of injury)

Neither of them were at the main training session last Wednesday. Or at least, Powell definitely wasn't and I'm about 75% sure that Thewlis wasn't. Suggests they both have niggling injuries, despite not being on the official list.

10 weeks iirc - ridiculously fast according to most at the time.

Had a quick chat with schneides on Sunday - his hammie just isn't puilling up like they expected apparently, which is why the extensions keep coming up. hopes to be back soon though.

Also, anyone noticed the increasingly patchy appearance of the SCG? Some very lush green patches, then some that looked better placed in the outback from the replay, but the commentators saying they were watering it lots more than normal... I'm guessing a consequence of the water restrictions lately?

Could be a factor in injuries if it isn't kept in tip top condition...

I suppose it is posible, but I have never heard of a bruised ankle.

A few weeks ago a mate of mine checked all the injuries listed for all clubs and came up with the stat of 29% of all injuries were hammies. Somethings strange in Denmark!

Probably just food left over from the royal wedding. Mosty of that would be variations on raw fish, too.

I was at a trivia night in Coogee last night - mainly travel but a few Princess Mary questions too - and one about what month Plugger kicked his 1300th - about half the room hazarded a guess (most thought September). Then another about how many goals Baz kicked on Sunday - answered in a nanosecond. Maybe Sydney is becming an AFL town?

I wouldn't be too worried about Schneider taking another 3 weeks. I'd be happier if we don't see him until about Rd 17 or so. If he does this hammy for the 3rd time this year it is bye bye finals for him.

As for Ball, it was a strain rather than a tear and if he misses this week, with the week off courtesy of the split round he should be tip top for the Pies.

You never played soccer did you?. That sort of serious bruising is much more common in that game...not to mention broken ankles and toes.

I'm with you on that one. Would rather have a full strength team coming into the finals. Besides, Amon has filled his shoes nicely !
