    Match preview

Okay it's time to forget about the Saints game, and focus firmly on Sunday's match at AAMI.

I've posted an RWO match preview at

Check it out and see if you agree with my predictions.

    Good report.

The aspect of Port's goals is most interesting. Generally they seem to rely on Tredrea to kick their biggest haul and then spread it around among the rest. Ebert has kicked quite a few goals this year, and Dew and S Burgoyne can always pop up for some too.

Seems to work quite well for them, except on the odd occasion. Their goalkicking is a bit variable, but generally high - 23, 18, 26, 10, 17, 14, 13, 7, 19, 18, 12 = Ave 16 (third highest in comp).

Tredrea will be difficult to hold.

I wonder if Cornes may go forward at some point in this game (if he plays).

The ruck will be an issue too.

However, certainly Port are vulnerable (look at their games against Coll and Geel), and if we play well we should win. Let's hope we can actually string a few good games together.

So that's, what, 176 goals so far this season?

Tredrea and Ebert have 53 between them, Cornes is playing in defence, and Lade only kicks goals against the Swans.

So how on earth do they conjure the other 11 or 12 goals a game?

Surely if Mathews keeps Dew half quiet, and Crouch works his magic on Burgoyne, Port will find it impossible to kick a winning score??

      Won't they??

      Please??

Lots of guys kick 1-2 goals.

176 goals = 82 from Tredrea, Dew, Ebert and S Burgoyne (or 7.5 per game from these guys).

Which leaves 94 goals in 11 games = 8.5 goals per game from the other players.

        The number of goalkickers they have had this year per game is: 10 (W), 10 (W), 14 (W), 7 (L), 12 (W), 8 (W), 6 (L), 6 (L), 11 (W), 13 (W), 8 (L).

The only time they have had single-figures of goalkickers and won was 8 against Collingwood.

When they have double-figures of goalkickers they have won.

They average 9.5 goalkickers per game - 11.1 when they win and 6.8 when the lose.

We average 8.2 goalkickers per game - St.Kilda was our highest at 10.
