I'd much rather O'Keefe than the other McVeigh. And (from the horse's mouth) he's very happy in Sydney.

It's true that we'd have to give up quality to get quality and that's what makes the game tough for supporters. Much as I'd love to have a Scarlett running around for us, it would be hard to watch the likes of Kennelly or O'Keefe flourish elsewhere.

Fortunately (in one sense) there is no way Scarlett will be available, and probably not Michael either. I suspect the club's desire to get a top-line defender in trading will be thwarted by a lack of availability. The genius would be if they could find a Craig Bolton or Andrew Schauble who is on the fringes at their current club but who might blossom at a new club.

Please don't start this again. Last year the hot gos was that Pebbles would leave. It went on and on. I was talking to him about it at the B&F dinner and he was quite upset that everyone wanted him to leave when he didn't want to - and he thought the club wanted him, too. In the course of our five minute conversation two people came up and asked when he was leaving. Now that would be dispiriting.

And, this year in particular, he has been one of the most important contributors to the team. In fact, he lifted and largely got us across the line - or at least tried to get us across the line - in a couple of games when many others had lost the plot. I'd be devastated to see him leave - and I bet he'd turn into a star wherever he went. Then there would be numerous threads on RWO on "why did we let him go?"

If you want to trade you have to put up good players as bait.Old players, reserves, or constantly injured players don't make good bait. Therefore crowd favs have to be put up as bait if you want to get decent players.
If we don't want to get rid of good players then the only hope of getting ready made players is by offering off contract players big money and using the pre season draft to get them.

I think that may be the way Roos is thinking of going. Remember last year when he said he had lots of money to offer them but there just wasn't anyone available that he wanted. Maybe this year? Who is coming off contract? And are there any Swans that we may lose the same way?

Ok I putting this up as a discussion ONLY what would we think of trading for the Longmuir boys, justin is a ruckman/forward who's fighting with two other ruckman and troy can't get a game he is a wingman/half forward who has one the longest kicks I have seen seeing balls near the end I consider justin a younger version of Ball thoughts?. (the reason for the 2 as they see themseleves as package)

Relax. We're only talking what ifs. I'm don't think a player is going to get to upset about a few fans playing fantasy footy on this board.

Yeah, the team would really be called the Bloods then, coz they would have all slit their wrists.

Well I just kicked it over the fence - both underperformers IMO, Justin has the talent, Troy is just a scrapper - we casn do better elsewhere IMO

Both Longmuirs are from Western Australia. Why would they want to move to Sydney??

troy - no way... he would give hiself a high 10, every time he got a kick, if it were possible

                          justin - hmmm... soft

o'keefe for mcveigh? id rather let o'keefe go into the preseason draft... no, seriously...

my pick - aaron shattock, put him on HBF and move tadhg to the midfield, BANG we have an attacking midfielder!

                          OR chad fletcher

OR luke power he is not out of contract, we shouldve gone after him at the end of last year

                          OR high-priced: pavlich

                          OR harris - kangaroos variety

                          OR thompson - melbourne variety

people think we would go for a tall back, i think we should go for a full forward, maybe one that currently is on a holiday? it would allow magic to play a true forward pocket role and keep him out of heavy marking contests

i really dont see a need for a key back at this stage, we could in a couple of weeks have a backline like:

                          bevan schauble james
                          barry goodes bolton
                          kennelly

                          that is almost TOO tall

How about draft choices and a few players like Fosdike and Monty for emerging Lions stars Hadley and Brennan? These guys must be itching for game time and the Loins have a hard time giving it to them.

id give hall away before giving buccy away in search of young talent

brennan, while there was a massive amount of hype around his debut, (IMO a very overrated debut), he is the next darryl white

hadley has just started to crack the senior side and i doubt he would leave the club on his request after the club handed him a premiership medal in his 3rd game

i retract the bolton and fosdike call

id go fosdike, ablett and a pick
