I had expected this all week, so I am pretty non emotional about it.

It is always hard to actually tell how bad certain players went when a team is so undermanned, in some ways it was a whole new team out there today. I am not excusing bad losses, but only the blindest fans thought we had a big shot at them.

Didn't Port get belted just a few weeks back by the Roos? It was bound to happen this week, loads of injuries, playing at their home ground etc.

I am "happy" to wait for a fortnight to see if the rest can bring a few players back and fix some niggles.

Agree. I think many (most?) saw it coming all week.

Few teams could cover the injuries we've got at the momment - its a clear and simple explanation - not a cop out.

Yeah, I think this is a fair call. With the injuries, a loss seemed likely, but I doubt anyone, even Melbourne journos , would have expected this.

Yeah, pretty much the same here. With the injuries we had, the guys we lost DURING the game, playing over there.... We were always going to be up against it big time.

I'm not really that fussed (apart from the regular disappointment at losing by 12 goals) - we have a couple of weeks off, let's see what we can do against the Magpies.

This is turning out not to be our year - I'm surprised we've managed to win games at all, given the injuries

Wipe it from our memory and move on. It was only a few weeks ago that Brizzie went to Freo and got walloped by about the same margin as us today...now look at what's being said about Brizzie...premiership favourites again!!!
Disappointing to lose percentage like that when it might come down to % getting into the 8 or not...

All I can say is that the end result was much better than I thought was going to happen at Half Time, I thought we were headed for a 100 plus loss.

There was simply no way we could win that game, considering the toll we suffered.

I'm not devastated, but very disappointed.

I thought we might lose (so much for those "if you really really believe..." posts!! ) but I thought the application really wasn't there.

The midfield were very poor and pretty much destroyed by Port in the 2nd and 3rd qtrs. Up to 3 qtr time the clearances were 37-20 I believe.

Injuries are not really a great excuse. I'd hate for us to focus on injuries rather than what we did wrong, as perhaps we did after Essendon when umpires were maybe the focus rather than our poor play.

Every team has had a performance like the one the Swans served up this year, even Brisbane!

Let's put things into perspective an look forward to having a couple weeks break, regaining some players and playing on our home soil!

On the subject of "really believing" I think the Swans went onto the ground expecting to lose today. It looked like the team thought they'd throw everything into it and when that didn't work they gave up. Ben's miskick to a Swan on the 50 just 20 metres away, Jude's divot and nearly missing the ball and Baz's failed marks were all just example. The hope was that the experienced players could carry the inexperienced through the game. But when the mistakes started they all seemed to drop to the same poor standard.

I hope that when we get our full strength team back we enjoy it as much as Port did today.

The suspense over the next fortnight is how the injured players shape up. Nick Davis is still a waste of space on the ground at present. Will Willo and Fosdike be out for a Swans' "three weeks"? Can we expect Ball or Doyle or Schauble (remember him?) or Schneider or Magic or Leo back?

I agree that we shouldn't read too much into the loss today. But it makes it that much tighter to be in a reasonable position at the end of the season. Geelong and Freo both won so we are now in 8th and a game behind 7th.

I'm so glad we've got a week off before our next game. Otherwise we could have been close to the same predicament as the Hawks, who had to pick an injured player as an emergency for their last game.
