I'd like to think there'd be 57 sets of three votes to one player who shall remain nameless... but we all know who our best was today .

      Who?

Have to say I'm struggling to find anyone who was reasonable, except perhaps Maxfield and maybe J Bolton (lots of possessions, but didn't do a lot with many of them). Mathews seemed okay too.

With response to NMW, and not trying to persuade anyone, I thought Bevan and Hall provided a good consistent performance all day long.

          I thought Bevan was good.

Same with Hall, although some poor kicking undid some of his good work.

I thought Jude had about 30% more intensity today than any other Swan on the field. Next would be Stewie . . . then I can't think of who would be next on the list.

Buchanan would have been polling well to half time

just bumping this up for you Charlie.

By the time I jumped on here it was well down the second page.

Hubby and I decided happy or unhappy hour was required after the match. It ending up being a bit longer than an hour as it sometimes does.

Like NMW, I'm not sure that we all know the same thing. In my mind there was one excellent player, another two who can hold there head up reasonably well, and possibly another two who played decent cameos. But from the postings thus far on the board, I don't think that the player I thought was clearly our best would be the unamimous choice.

Come on Liz - let us know who you think!!

                    I'm really interested.

I think Maxfield was the standout player for us.

I know that we're not meant to discuss this, but at least it's something positive!!

Just a reminder, guys, not to post your votes - I realise it stifles discussion, and I'm not complaining about people posting who their standouts were... although I'd probably prefer if those posts were split off into another thread.

                        (ignoring Charlies' request )

I'm with you NMW but I while most would probably agree he was in the best, I didn't get the impression of a concensus that he was our best.

For me he was outstanding today considering how little support he had. Not only did he get a heap of the ball (from a player who tends not to rack up the possessions) he mostly used it really really well, didn't let up laying tackles (eight per the AFL stats and they often include only the effective ones), got his own ball as well as running to receive.

Apart from Port showing us mercy at the end, I think he was the reason we didn't lose by 150+ - not just from his own efforts but because I think some of his team mates realised the work he was putting in and responded, albeit late.
