    Team vs Collingwood

Is it too early to think about this? Sure is, but why not, gotta be better than dwelling on today's performance.

    Whos back?
    Whos gawn?

I would hope Ball, Doyle, O'Loughlin, Barry will be ok. They will slot straight back into the side.

Davis should be ok, the extra week off will hopefully do wonders. Crouch will be ok from his head clash, and I doubt Fosdike will be in doubt due to his injury, but may struggle to keep his spot if we do get some luck with returning players.

I would think only Buchanan will be in doubt from today's disaster.

Schneider and Schauble still wont be ready for seniors in 2 weeks.

    So perhaps...
    IN: Ball, Doyle, O'Loughlin, Barry
    OUT: Buchanan, LRT, Ablett, Powell

    Am I missing anything? Thoughts?

    Williams possible groin injury.

Doubt if Ball will be ready.

Who knows with Doyle and O'Loughlin.

What's the story with Fosdike - they were looking at his knee I thought - seemed to twist under him.

Fosdike - has an adductor muscle (groin) injury.

Maybe just to distract himself from the disaster going on all around him? (I wish I'd thought of that myself.)

          Mine would be:

IN: O'Laughlin, Barry, Doyle, Dempster, Fixter, Ball (hopefully)
OUT: Buchanan, MJ, Powell, Ablett, McVeigh, LRT

Fosdike just reported by Doc Larkins as 4-6 weeks with a knee injury! This is insane.

I remember early in the season when we were wondering who would drop out of the side for Fixter, if anyone. I think we can safely say that there is room enough for him now.

I can't believe we have another one out for 4-6 weeks. It's just gone so beyond what I could have even comprehended at the season's start.

How can you possibly compete if you have more than half of your best 22 unavailable due to injury? Especially when the majority of them are key talls?

It is gut-wrenching to see our team appear worse on paper as each week goes by. Have we fielded an unchanged lineup in 2 consecutive weeks this year? Or even just an unforced change as someone has returned from injury?

There was one angle on tv today when it looked like his kneecap was dislocated to the left.

I'm glad I'm not Paul Roos right now. With our current injuries he has a great chance to blood some youngsters - and give James and NOG all the game time they need to step up to full AFL standard (amongst others, LRT, Powell?). But if he does, we may suffer more embarassments like today and he'll be viewed as a crap coach. And we're still in the eight with a team that should become much stronger over the next few weeks coming towards the finals. But he also now has no choice - he has to look at the team and reserves and just pick the best team available for each game, even if there are going to be some players on the field who will let the team down. Does he ramp up fit reserves and, in effect, walk away from this year? Or does he continue to play the walking wounded, injured players like an underperforming Nick Davis (and Willo today?), to scrape wins where he can at the cost of their long term playing future?

Whoa, one loss doesnt call for drastic measures. Settle down for a sec. We have a 2 week break now. Reassess if we drop out of the 8 after 2-3 more games. Look at our draw for the next month or so and you'll see relative to the other top 8 contenders, we should have a decent run if we get fit players back.

I still think we will finish about 5th.

I'm not talking about wholesale changes for the sake of it. We fielded a scratch team today and there is still talk that we should not have let Nicky D play. If we have lost another 2 or 3 players today then we'll be well into our reserves for the next round. Yes, we have a relatively easy draw for the next few weeks but do we play injured stars (Willo, Davis) or bring in reserves. I'm just glad it's not my call.

On top of Willo's hip strain I'm hoping there's no video evidence to charge him for the free he gave off the ball in the 1st Half.

I like that Paul Roos has told off his players for starting the mid-season break a week early.

We should at least gain MO'L, Leo Barry and one of the ruckmans back for the Pies match.

                          Because we'll definitely need it.

If Fosdike is out for a few weeks, there might be a chance that McGlone will get to make his debut. It would be between him and Fixter to come into the midfield, and my impressions of Fixter playing in the twos is that he looks like a player who still needs a few weeks to dust off the cobwebs and get match fitness.

The way we are going we are going to have to pull people out of the crowd to play.
