I understand your frustration. But if you know how to cure some of the injuries quickly , do drop a quick line to the medics - after you've done your seven years at uni and added a bit of practical experience.

It's more about prevention than cure. There is something wrong with the amount of hammies we've had 11 weeks into this season.

A fair comment, if it was the medicos treating the injuries who were given the pat on the back and not the conditioning staff who should have helped prevent them
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Is this our line up for round 1, 2005? Not a bad side, that!

What is the real reason is the Question

Too much what?

Not enough?

It must be close for someone to be asking why?

I stick with some problems caused by a drought-stricken second rate training ground over summer as one reason. We started the season with lots missing.

And Roos went the right way for the Wizz Fizz - just use it as a no account training run. I think that playing it hard is going to really cost the Aints in the downhill run of this season.

And yes, let's see if we've changed anything in training that is contributing.

But don't forget, we had a pretty good run with injuries last year. This year ain't so good.

Aside from that, the comment was made on the Footy show a while back about the huge number of hamstring injuries across the board, compared to any other short-term(ish) injury - hammies are probably one of the few injuries that commonly occur that you can't play on with, and they are also the most volatile. How many guys go in to matches with injuries they can play with that we don't know about other than just an extra bit of taping here or there?

We're definitely not the only club afflicted with hammies in particular - collingwood have quite a few iirc, and also a couple of other clubs as well, but our pre-season training ground certainly doens't help our cause, and neither does the scg, which is looking patchier every week....

Yeah , ok Mono . I see what you mean : I think some of the injuries are just bad luck , but it''d be interesting to get an 'official' club view on this.

And you're expecting them to tell the truth? An "official" club view would be worth as much as telling us Schauble is 3 weeks away.

Hammies are now more common because many of the midfielders play like athletes which strains the muscle. Look at athletics and see how many hammies elite athletes suffer. And they usually miss a minimum of 6-8 weeks. Harder grounds is a factor in stress related injuries.

Nowhere near as bad as we've got it though. They were back to practically full-strength by rd.3 or 4, when their long winning run started.

I heard on SEN the other day that the Aints had so many hamstring probs a few years ago that they had Monash Uni do a study on the players and their preperation. Come 2004 and they've got very few (if any) hamsting probs, or soft-tissue injuries in general.

IMO luck has little to do with it. Once is an incident, twice is a coincidence and three or more is a trend. We've got far too many hamstring injuries to suggest it's just bad luck. If our medicos/conditioning staff can't find a prevention or a cure (as the Aints seem to have), maybe we need new staff.
To all those people who waited 72 years to see a South Melbourne/Sydney Swans premiership HERE IT IS!!

All you can do is comare them to other teams, and they are not winning that competition.
