Ericksen is even taller than Doyle!

    205.2 and 203 respectively.

He looked a tall drink of water...
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

he'll still be a couple of years off, but his game has improved from the beginning of the season to now.

If he continues at this rate, he'll be a handy player. Although, most of his play has been away from the ruck with MJ taking most of that responsibilty.

MJ is too short BAM_BAM! I have moved into the metric world when it comes to ruckmen and all of ours must be over 200 cms in the future. It is really important. Really!

        Handy, but not necessary.

        eg:

        Rhett Biglands 198
        Jamie Charman 197
        Clark Keating 197
        Jeff White 195
        Dean Brogan 199
        Brendon Lade 199
        Matthew Primus 198
        Michael Gardiner 199
        Luke Darcy 198

Well, I was going to include that one as the prime example, then I thought of a nasty knee impact!!

Oh you are both just mad. Our ruckmen have to be over 200 cms in the future.

of course I am just being stupid...

Tapping as good as Everitt at 198 would be better!

add 1 part leap, and 4 parts ball skills, and you've got yourself a taller Adam Goodes.

                      [i]Optimum ruckmEn
Ruckmen can neither be expected to play a full season or a full game.

Also it's hard to find, a highly mobile, marking tap ruckman, that can kick goals and do the grunt work in packs.

So perhaps the optimum ruckman is therefore a group of ruckmen.

                      One meataxe (Primus, Keating)

                      One Tap Artiste (Everitt, Sandilands)

                      One highly Mobile (Goodes)

                      One Hatchling (Erickson)

                      One recovering (Doyle)

I think Ball these days probably fits into to the meataze group, it remains to see what may be made of Doyle.

Jeff White can do all of these things, and is doing so this year.

I haven't seen a lot of him this year but even against us he didn't look much of a goal scorer . . . . and his grunt work . . . . well he's not all that scary.

The thing I find with ruckmen is that they generally have one good season in them, and then a small injury puts them way off their best for a long time, even 2-3 years.

So saying Jeff White is the god of rucks is just looking at how he has been this year. Stafford was brilliant in the ruck in 1996, but quickly went off the boil in the following years, same can be said about McKernan. Everitt has only really got it together this year after a promising year last year, and a whole lot of rubbish in his last few at St Kilda. Matthew Allen was also brilliant for Carlton at one stage but his last few years were terrible. I'm sure the list goes on.
