    Roosy on the Couch

Just saw an ad for On the Couch on Fox Footy on Monday night - Paul Roos will be on the couch this Monday.

    I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.

Be interesting to see what he comes up with but Roos plays things pretty close to his chest re. the media. I won't expect too much earth shattering info.l

Was very good as always, some interesting anecdotes about playing days under Walls and Parkin.

But the clanger of the evening was......................................

Roos saying the Geisch rang HIM after the Doggies game to more or less apologies for missing 2 frees for Bazz.

The couch interview gave some idea of why Roosy coaches like he does. It seems he still resents the roastings he got from Parkin all those years ago, and still thinks Parkin was wrong to do so. Even gave a specific example, though it was a bit tough of him to blame his midfield (I think Johnny Blakey got the gong) for the goals that were kicked on him that day. The unsaid words were that he reacted badly to a roasting, therefore he tries not to do it as a coach.

Also stated that the performance review at mid season showed that we are doing just as well as last season EXCEPT for our conversion.

We will never know if we would have done better with Wallace, but I am happy with our OLD ROYBOY. (or am I biased?)

That's not exactly what he said.

He said that the reasons were complex (he said there was a document and indicated with his hands that it was huge) but that the stats were the same as last year, ONE factor that was different was our conversion.

Basically, he was trying to avoid giving a reason for why we're 9th.

Was a very smart way of saying that the injuries to Magic, Davis and Scheinderman have hurt us this year. Would have left most other teams supporters with a reason without sounding like he was blaming injuries.

When you think about it we are only 2 games different than last year at the bye mark. If you keep Davis on the park in round 1 and have Schuable for Richo, we would be exactly where we were last year.

why does everybody continue to laud richo for his game against us? schauble woulda done bugger all on richo as IIRC there was only one contest that richo scored from that couldve been spoiled. a defender wasnt going to do anything for us that day.

krakouer, tivendale and brown were serving it up on a platter to him, and the ball stuck and he kicked straight. midfield, midfield, midfield lost it for us that day.

I've tried to expunge that game from my memory - but Richardson was magnificent. The Swans midfield was probably on top until midway through the third quarter but didn't capitalise on their control by delivering the ball smartly. Everything that did come Richo's way he made something of. His hands were magnificent in wet conditions and he kicked goals from a long way out and from tight angles.

I do agree that Schauble may have had little effect from a purely one-on-one perspective. However, having his leadership and experience down back might have made a huge difference, with the defence playing smarter, providing more support to whoever was playing on Richo, and not leaving such huge spaces for him to lead into.

if richardson had of somehow been able and continue to perform near his best week in week out he would go down as one of the greatest players of all time

he is quick and fast and so powerful...sadly for tiger fans he never has become that great champion he could of been and probably never will

though he has been a good player of course i realise... i just feel he had all this poetenital and every now and then shows whats there at his best... and he sure showed us how great his best is...

I thought it was funny that Roos said rout instead of route at one stage but nobody battered an eyelid. I agree that his bakings from Parkin seem to influence his player management and he is of the belief that modern day players would not endure such beratings. I think when he was alluding to injuries he indicated that it was injuries to the top-ten talent which hurt more than the sheer number.

I didn't know that Roos was on the couch, so I missed it

It's such a shame because I could have watched it, seeing that I have Fox Footy.

It sounded great, a real insight to why Roos coaches the way he does.

                              I'm so disappointed
