    Key Position Player?

Could someone please define for me what a key position player is? Is it a so called spine player, ie:

    Full forward
    CH Forward
    ??
    CH Back
    Full Back

I think you are correct! I'm sure someone will correct me, if I'm wrong.

But that has been my understanding when they talk about KPP, is one of the "spine" positions, as described.

The ruck is also generally considered to be a key position.

Basically the spine, with the ruckman taking the place of the centreman.
        We hate Anthony Rocca
        We hate Shannon Grant too
        We hate scumbag Gaspar
        But Leo WE LOVE YOU!

The 2004 version would be awesome if we get them all on the park at the same time

Obviously though, they don't have to be playing in the spine to be KP, you don't see Bradshaw for example at full-forward unless Lynch is out.

Agree that our spine this year would be great, if only they were on the park!

Swansrule you have got half one and.......

Sometimes when referring to the spine, commentators list the "key" on-baller/centreman/midfielder rather than the Ruckman.

But if we're talking KPP's then Brisbane would be Michael, Leppitsch, Keating, Brown, Lynch

The Sydney spine should be Schauble, Goodes, Kirk, Hall, O'Loughlin....not bad I would say.

Some other teams (and you can't cheat by naming the number 1 ruckman as a KPP

                Fremantle

                Polak, McPharlin, Hasleby, Pavlich, Simmonds....Mmmmm

                Hawthorn

Hay, Croad, Crawford, Jacobs, Thompson....good (in theory!)

                Collingwood

Presti, Wakelin, Buckley, Rocca, Tarrant...OK I'll give you that.

                Port

Wakelin, Cornes, P. Burgoyne, Tredrea, Lade/Thurstans...that'll do, pig.

                Adelaide

Bassett, Perrie, Ricciuto, McGregor, M. Stevens......never mind.

                Eagles

Glass, Lynch, Cousins, Hansen, MacDougall....Auskick, anyone?

                Bulldogs

Harris, Grant, West, Bowden, Rawlings...shame about the forwards

                Melbourne

Nicholson, Rivers, Green, Miller, Neitz.......Oh, baby!

                Richmond

Gasper, R. Hall, Brown, Schulz, Richardson.....Oh, dear.

                Essendon

Fletcher, Wellman, Hird, McPhee, Lloyd......I hate Essenden

                St. Kilda

Penny, Maguire, Hayes, Riewoldt, Gehrig.......Not too shabby, either.

                Carlton

                Thornton, Morrell, Camporeale, Whitnall, Fevola
