Goodes looked very proppy on his knee after that sliding chestmark.
I'd say Willo will struggle with his hip.

Was their anything else??? I thought we can away pretty well yesterday.

Is it the type of injury that will get better with time even if he plays? If not, I think we should rest him until it's better. He is too important for the future.

Goodes' injury is not going to "get better" per se. The tear of the ligament will not heal itself. Fortunately it is a relatively minor tear. Beau MacDonald and Michael Gardiner have much worse versions of the same injury and both are out for the rest of the year. Apparently there is an operation that can be performed but the best if can do is restore the state of the knee to about that of Goodes' at the moment. And that op does not have a very high success rate. There is a good chance that Gardiner, for example, will never be able to get back to the level of football he was playing a year ago, when he was clearly the best ruckman for the season thus far.

Goodes probably is suffering some residual soreness from having to use different muscles to stabilise himself, but the way to strengthen these is probably to keep playing him.

For a man on one knee he was a pretty good player last night. I know he was playing very loosely on his man but that is nothing to do with his knee - it's his brain and the fact that, wherever he is stationed on the ground, he is an instinctively attacking player, not a defensive one.

Hopefully he starts to improve over time. It would be tragic if we never see him back to his best.

I agree he has been playing exceptionally well considering his circumstances. Trouble is we need him to be back to his best and be able to play some sort of midfield role.

perhaps they are keeping their cards close to their chests (with Willo), but there were no official injuries listed according to the Swans site match report. Perhaps the golf buggy and crutches are more a management thing.

Hi Guys (my first post after lurking for a couple of months - How about an "Introduce Yourself" forum?)

Near the end of the game they were showing someone on the big screen getting some treatment - couldn't see his face. Was it Willow?

I think with Goodes' injury he will play out the rest of the season as best he can and go under the knife as soon as it is over and spend his offseason recovering for next year... (Thought he was very useful last night)

No. Goodes' injury isn't like that. There is no surgery for his 'tear'. My understanding, is that unless it gets much worse (snaps?) he will not be operated on. He just has to adjust to looseness in the joint.

Channel 10 has just said that Willo got a tendon injury in the pre-match warm up and played with a pain killing injection. He's likely to miss next week.

I think that was Ben Fixter - he was receiving some treatment on the boundary line laate in the game - can't have been too serious cos he came back on

That's what I thought. It looked like they were limbering him up rather than trying to fix something.

re: goodes. before the mark, he almost looked like he was back to his best, athleticism wise, he may have just got a bit cocky with that mark...

I dont think goodes belongs at centre half back... he is a naturally attacking player and its his strength

I guess we havent got spare talls for down back, but if schuable comes back does anyone agree goodes should move down field. Hed be a good ruck rover, tho on his leg may be better running off half forward. I just dont think he enjoys centre half back, tho hes been serviceable
