    $6.00 Trains from Telstra?

CityRail is charging a flat SINGLE fare of $6.00 to travel from Olympic Park to any Cityrail station for everyone. They only introduced this recently and are calling it a "Special Event" ticket price. This is a blatant rip off in my view as it costs $4.60 to travel Olympic Park to Central and an off peak RETURN ticket to Central is normally $6.80!

If like me you are travelling to somewhere that normally costs less than $6 ($4.40) in my case, you are going to blow-up and argue strongly as I did after initially being charged the six dollars and after telling the Cityrail staff member (who rudely kept pointing at the $6 sign I told him I had a weekly ticket that I'd already paid for and it was valid to Croydon thus I only wanted to pay to go as far as that and he charged me $4 but this was only after a fight!! Many other people behind me were angry enough to also argue but many are just being ripped off... probably thinking that a "special event" price is cheaper than normal.

I've asked CityRail media to get back to me asking why they are charging six bucks to everyone when it might normally be cheaper and once I have a response will take that to the Swans but I'd like to hear from you guys in relation to this as well.

Can you buy the ticket earlier in the week and use it on the day of the game?

I paid $6.80 for a return from Central to Olympic Park, which I believe is normal price. Bought the ticket at Bondi Junction (I also already had a weekly to the city) and had no discussions / problems with it at all.

$6 for a single fare seems very rough.

I just pay the 6.80 like Lizz mentioned and to be honest, if I didn't have a ticket to come back from Olympic Park, I wouldn't bother buying one!. No one seems to check on the way back.

I had to go in to the SCG to pick up all the flags and floggers. (From Newtown to the SCG my cab fare was $28.50 because I was caught in a traffic jam on South Dowling St. ) So I went out in the car to the Stadium where we poled the banner in the carpark.

I had to buy a one way fare back into town as well. I instantly went to the same kiosk you went to, and was horrified at having to pay $6 for a one way fare.

I have a Red Travelpass that gets me weekly travel to a certain area, yet I could only buy a single ticket marked "All Areas" from this specially put-up booth. There still were heaps of people at the ticket booths near the entry turnstiles. I wonder how much they paid. I'm sure it was NOT the $6 I paid. Boofhead even had to pay $6 to get to Croydon himself, which is only 2 stations from Strathfield.

This is a complete rort. Do your job City Rail and stop ripping people off.

PS:- There are always grey Nazis at Olympic Park Station, so try and buy a return ticket whenever you can. Even though travelling into the ground by car does have its benefits. *HICK*

This $6 one way fare is not new.

One trip last year we got a taxi straight from the airport to the game and then needed a train back into town afterward and were charged $6 one way.

They also do it for the buses from Central to the SCG, you can't buy a one way ticket! I've only ever caught a bus from Central never back there after the game.

All the more reason to stop at the Forresters on the way home and have a yummy $5 steak.

Otherwise you can catch the 339 for one dunk of your Travelten. It leaves right next to the special SCG rip-off buses.

The walk from the SCG to Central is ok. But bugger walking up Forveaux St and arriving at the game already irritated.

I like going to the SCG heaps better as I can catch the 355 to the junction and then the 380 home.

But on Saturday it took me 2 hours to get home and I missed the end of the game witch i didnt tape.

I have stopped complaining about the price of Public Transport in this city. Not worth the angst really as CityRail doesnt give a hoot.

Swans Media have passed on my information to their Commercial Operations.

Still no word from CityRail media department!

I went to the RL SOO at Stade d?Oz on Wednesday and public transport costs were included in the price of the ticket. All I had to do was show my Ticketek SOO ticket at the train station and I was allowed onto the train; the same applied to government buses. This is the same arrangement that was in place for the Olympics and I know that Melbourne has a similar deal at the Australian Open tennis for travel by tram to Flinders Park.

I?m certain that the ticket prices aren?t loaded to the full extent of the actual fare for these arrangements; maybe the Swans could look at a similar arrangement for our Homebush games.

Could you imagine trying to explain to CityRail staff that the plastic card you have is actually your ticket for the night? They'd probably not accept them!!!

I dislike having to go to Telstra Stadium but when I do, I catch the train to Concord West. Takes approx 20 minutes (from Central) and there is a nice pub there (opposite the station) where you can enjoy a beer at decent prices, you then only need to walk thru the park (approx 25mins - or one roadie) and the best partis that it is standard off peak prices.
One vege patch at a time

The problem is that for transport to be included in all tickets, the Swans woudl have to up the membership price to include the fare.
