I will probably get laughed at, but I have a normal unreserved membership with includes going to the after-matches at every home match. I have a Concession Pass (don't I!) so get everything for $120 odd.
This basically means you can sit in the unreserved area up the back of the Hill. Or of course with us in the Cheer Squad (membership $28 which if you turn up to 70% of matches and sit with us does pretty much guarantee you a Grand Final ticket; there won't be that many from the Sydney squad who'd go down.) You get a poster, get to walk on the hallowed turf every week to hold up the banner (ask The Manager how he felt when he walked onto Telstra Stadium and the MCG for the first time; it sure gets the blood pumping!). And you get to be a supporter who is wanting to do that little bit more for the club, but on a physical scale rather than a financial one.
We are starting to get a decent old group in the Cheer Squad at matches these days, as was seen on aturday against the Pies. We yell, chant, cheer, heckle opposition player (within reason, mind you), wave flags, crack jokes, make one-liners, sing silly songs when we are bored, and generally have a good old time. Yes, you cop the elements, and barbs from opposition morons from time to time. But that is part of supporting your team, I guess. Also it is Alcohol Free in the Cheer Squad, and security definitely monitor it.
Give us a thought. We have fun most of the time. And are starting to put our bad past behind us. But more help is very much needed!
