From the Swans email (obviously everyone has seen this)

    PLAYERS
    Backs: J. Crouch C. Bolton P. Bevan
Half Backs: L. Barry A. Goodes T. Kennelly
    Centre: S. Maxfield P. Williams B. Mathews
    Half Forwards: R. O'Keefe B. Hall L. Roberts-Thomson
    Forwards: L. Ablett M. O'Loughlin M. Nicks
    Followers: J. Bolton, B. Kirk, J. Ball
    Interchange: S. Doyle, B. Fixter, N. Fosdike, A. Schneider
    Emergency: J. McVeigh, J. Thewlis, S. Dempster

I guess it is make or break time for NOG and the Hyphen! I don't like the idea of having two "half-fit" players on the bench. They should of brought back either Schneider or Fosdike... (I guess I just want McVeigh to stay in the side).

NOG seems to be getting an extended run so they must really be looking at him closely at present. At this stage the odds would be stacked against him to be retained next year.

The Hyphen has nothing to fear as they ease him back into the side. No use playing him in the reserves if fit as he adds at this stage (with Saddington out) that much needed flexibility to go either forward or back and pinch hit in the ruck if desperate.

Would suggest McVeigh would come into the side for Fosdike if he does not come up for the game. Jarred may need a run in the two's for a while to get a full game and his hands on some leather due to the limited game time he has seen recently.

Tough on Thewlis but that is what we want, compertition for places. He has had a taste and knows what it is all about, will now bust his butt to get back into the team again.

Yes and no. Sure, he was given several chances earlier in the year when his performances maybe didn't warrant it. In that he was a beneficiary of the extensive injury list.

But if you're picking the team based on contributions in last week's game, NOG would clearly be ahead of both Thewlis and McVeigh. It comes down to the dilemma of giving several youngsters a "fair go" versus picking the team most likely to win.

Well think about it. A regular in the side who has 10 years of footy left in him is going to be more valuable at trade time than a young one who can't break into the side ? Or am I being cynical ?

Playfair is a genuine key position player...we are desperate for one.

Desperate for what kind of key position player??? One to fill a hole in our best starting 22 or one to bring though depth wise??

If its depth-wise I doubt Playfair will want to come to us.
