One of the problems the swans face is the victorian style memberships on offer. There is no doubt that the sporting fanatasism in Sydney is a lot less than Melbourne, and as a consequence there are less hard-core fans who want to go to every game.

So, I think the swans should offer "half" memberships. Every second game. Or themed memberships where you get the big games at a slight premium, or the smaller games at a bigger discount.

I know we have the 4-game pass, but that is a ticketek initiative, and doesnt count toward membership figures, or send much money the swans way.

As long as these 'boutique' (or bandwagon lol) style memberships were not offered reserved seating at the SCG, I am all for them. I thought the 4 game pass idea from the club was great.

I would be annoyed if dedicated members couldn't get a good seat in say the Brewongle because some bugga has got it for 5 games or something.

I would also hope these type of memberships weren't 'full club memberships', when and if we do start voting again, I would hope only dedicated paid up Sydney and Melb based 'victorian style' members would get the vote.

So long as current members don't flock to such packages, I'm all for it.

Particularly a Sunday Package for families with Littlies.

What do you mean a Ticketek initiative??

Ticketek are the selling agents, the Swans decide how their games are packaged and then Ticketek sell them.

If the someone buys a seat through Ticketek for every game, the Swans end up with more cash than if the person had brought a membership.

I think there should be a family membership that just covers the Sunday afternoon games. We still take the little guy to the night games, but I imagine there would be a lot of folks who don't and would be willing to sign up for a Sunday arvo game only membership.

They sell a five game membership - they call it Country' you have a choice of any five games and there are two styles - either general admit or a seat in (I think) the Ladies stand.
Living in Victoria this is the one I bought, along with the 5 game Victorian Membership.

No. This changed a few years ago. The home club keeps the net gate receipt minus venue costs. (Had use the AFL case study in a course I did last year with Microsoft)

Which is why Collingwood have become the whore of the AFL with all clubs wanting them to play them in home matches and why Melbourne was so excited to be the home team in the Queens Birthday match.

If you buy a membership you get approximately a 50% discount on buying walk-up tickets. It therefore already represents great value for money if you expect to go to most games and you only have to go to just over half to "break-even", even before you throw in added benefits (minor though they may be).

The club would have to consider the risk of people who go to 7 or 8 games but still buy a full membership downgrading to a limited match pass. This could well offset those who buy this pass who would otherwise not buy any kind of season ticket / membership. It is also likely that any further pass for limited games wouldn't carry full membership (as the Telstra pass currently doesn't). Thus purchasers would have no chance to buy GF tickets and wouldn't get voting rights, if they ever happen.

There would be added complications with more complexity in the number of memberships / passes available.

The club is also limited, to some extent, by the capacity of the SCG which means that Sydney membership is limited to around 25,000 to allow for seats available to casual supporters (everyone starts somewhere). At the moment that isn't an issue, with only around 20,000 Sydney members, but throw in a GF appearance or two in the near future (maybe even a premiership ) and that would soon change. Any further limited match passes could then become a nuisance because it would be much harder to predict capacity.

This is not an issue with the limited match Telstra passes because of the greater capacity, nor with the Country memberships because there are so few of them. The club would have an option to suspend such passes when they next face this problem but they would have already created an expectation amongst one group of their supporter base.

The only additional package that might make sense for them is one aimed at families for the Sunday afternoon games, as already suggested earlier on this thread
