On The Couch & Fox Footy Extra

Interesting thoughts from Mike Sheahan who admitted that he probably regretted putting Sydney last on his 2003 predictions and expected that they would win more like 8 games and that would not place them last!

I think Wallsy and Gerard guilted him into waking up to himself and not discard this enthusiastic team.

Speaking of enthusiastic teams, Fox Footy Extra could not have started the Sydney campaign on a better heart warming front than last night - The Swans v Bombers 1996 Elimination. What an enthusiastic team that was. So cool and confident, it was an amazing team in hindsight with only a handful of stars. And Paul Kelly had only been a star for 12 months.

I got the feeling that if we could get that energy back this year, we can do well in the coming years.

BTW, Paul Kelly's biceps were about half as big again as they were last year - massive!

I remember an interview with paul roos late in seaon 96 when he said the younger players had to take this chance at a premership because you don't know when it might happen again , when you are up around the top you might think if you don't get it this year you will get it the next but ofcourse things don't always work out that way.
I expect him to make this point again during his time as coach if as I hope he will coach the swanies to a chance at a flag and hopfully win it.
