Richmond... Hawthorn... Carlton.... who are all planning on a massive cleanout at the end of the year (Carlton did theirs last year).

Lets take a good hard look at the great examples set by these famous clubs and see that paying crazy amounts of money to a few star players isnt the way to go.

he leads the league in uncontested gets, contested gets and clearances NOW; WITHOUT GARDINER

(im not abusing you by the way with the caps, its just an amazing feat)

therefore, he gets the pill himself. id agree with you if he lead the league in handball receives and led the league in clearances when gardiner is playing, but not the three stat columns stated above in his current circumstance... he is the shizz dizzle!

he would be worth the money, no doubt about it

edit: i forgot to include that he is 4th in the league for tackles as well

More say than any number of Brisbane midfeilders ?? Who incidentally do not get that sort of Cash and look at the results.
No ... no more over priced stars for the Swans ... we need a team of stars who want to win for each other (and the premeirship medallions) more than the money.
If he comes to us for 550 G + some promotional stuff from NSWAFL... Ok but 700 G ?? NO WAY.

its funny how you managed to completely ignore the rest of my post!

brisbane's midfielders, individually, are extremely good... however, an individual player from the brisbane midfield does not lead contested gets, uncontested gets and clearances! this is a testament to his strength and speed combined. judd is the type of player you build a midfield unit around...

our 'buying of stars' in the past has been buying a player once they have reached their peak, or past it. judd isnt anywhere near that

I'm convinced. Lets get him. He's the missing link in our side. $700K well spent.

As above I still believe know one player is worth that much with the current salary cap, I also believe that team harmony would suffer and what about Goodes hes won a brownlow medal whats he getting no where near $700k

I also remeber Brad Hardie telling of how when one Warick Capper moved from Sydney for $$$ to Brisbane the bears players made a pact that unless they had too they would not pass the ball to Capper. Its these sort of things that can lead to in fighting.

We want a gunn midfielder and we will chuck some cash at him but not that much.

Ps penga the stats you qouted are impressive, but he still has Cox and Cousins, Kerr and fletcher it sure makes it easy to sit off the back of packs knowing these guys are looking for you

i understand where you are coming from, in theory, but the stats paint a different picture, it would work in the case of a forward where he relies on delivery (re capper), but the three stat columns indicate that he gets the ball himself... that kind of scenario would be similar to bazza not leading when judd had the ball or a forward refusing to mark a ball that has been delivered to him lace out

also, if he were sitting off the back of packs, he would lead the league in handball receives not lead the league in clearances, uncontested gets and contested gets

he is hard, strong and in-and-under; indicative of an inside midfielder

he is also lightning fast, athletic and delivers the ball well; indicative of an outside midfielder

when you have a player that combines to be an excellent inside midfielder as well as a sumblime outside midfielder, you pay the big bucks

FWIW, i think he have bugger all chance getting him. its just that IMO, he would be worth paying the bucks to
