But Charlie, it has been pointed out time and time again that membership only entitles you to entry to the ground subject to capacity and conditions placed upon the sale of tickets by the home club.

The games at the MCG and TD are no problem, all members can get in without paying extra. At Optus you only pay extra if you aren't one of the first 3500 people into the GA area. At Geelong, every Swans member HAS to pay extra for a ticket unless they get a standing room ticket on the day.

These things are out of the control of the club. What is Tony Morwood suppose to do about Geelong charging extra for Swans members to get seats in the ground???? What he is suppose to do with Carlton only making 3500 GA tickets available to the general public which includes Swans members???

We have known about these problems for years, its not something that has all of a sudden come up.

As for not getting back to you, I doubt anyone will say that this is acceptable because it isn't, you have been wronged here, but what else can the club do to fix this????

As for the Cheer Squad seats Charlie, do you have a better plan to give out 118 tickets to 150 Melbourne members and a handful of Sydney CS members who also have equal rights to the tickets???? You have been unlucky here, at least your going to be at the game.

As to how to deliver them to the lucky 118, well I was given two options to get them - By mail, or going to the office myself. A third option is to get someone else to get your ticket, like many people like Cher and Ann are.

Other than failing to reply to your original email, I don't see what the club has done wrong.

does anyone know how two members can book seats for the geelong game online and guarantee they get seats next to each other..I would actually have to make both bookings so we cant do it simultaneously

Is is not false adevertising, go back and look at the membership brochure it clearly states subject to ground capacity.

In Carltons case 3,500 GA seats and Geelong's case 4,000 standing room tickets are the ground capacity. Otherwise you have to purchase a reserved seat.

So to answer to your questions, yes you have purchased a membership ticket that does not actually provide you gauranteed entry to the game.

I think its in fact only 2000 Standing Room tickets which Swans members again must share with Cats members and the general public.

Checking the membership booklet, it does say clearly "Admission to all 5 Swans Home and Away games played in Victoria (subject to capacity)" and knowing the law in regards to false advertising, the Swans have nothing to worry about.

I won't enter into the Geelong debate and I don't believe there is a problem, everyone should have been aware of the situation when they bought their membership ticket! Years ago you had to pay $17.50 on top of your membership if you wanted a seat, so not much has changed.
But I am unhappy with the service the Melbourne office are giving.

I rang the Melbourne office and spoke to Rebecca wanting a family ticket for the Collingwood game at Telstra Stadium, and it took her a full week to get back to me, in the meantime I had bought one online. I rang the club first because I thought it was the right thing to do, give them the commission instead of the ticket agency!

Good these concerns are being aired here. Because the club reads RWO like hawks.

It is a good thing in a way. Because if a member of staff DOES act poorly, people become aware of it.

Hopefully Tony is reading this as well.

As we ALL want a club that treats us with respect and professionalism every time we contact them.

Things are improving though.

The reason people buy memberships is because they use them to get into games. I'm not particularly interested in legal implications - surely nobody thinks I'm about to sue the club. However, if the club is selling memberships that only guarantee access to three games, yet charging for five, this is not good enough. As it is, I'm paying more for my five games than I should be, and that makes me angry.

The club seemingly has an attitude that they are guaranteed to keep the Melbourne fanbase, because they certainly aren't being proactive in keeping it. If such an attitude does exist... well, they deserve to be bitten on the bum. Perhaps if enough people do what I have now decided to do - buy an AFL membership next year - they'll get the point.

My issue in this thread has always been primarily that they didn't inform me that I did not have a ticket. That makes me angry, because they knew that we were anticipating sitting in the cheer squad. Had I not called, and continued to wait for confirmation I had tickets, I would have been missing my first game in Victoria since 1996.

All it would have taken was a simple 'sorry, you didn't get in in time... you're only on the waiting list'. Apparently that's too hard.

This I think is the biggest bugbear in Vic Membership, it adds insult to injury when we have only five games and two of them are at stadiums where our membership is almost worthless!

When at the SCG why don't we allocate a small section for visiting members, enough so that however many visitors come thetre are never enough, so we can charge some visiting members to get a seat.

Can you imagine the crap we'd cop for that.

I like watching footy at the smaller stadiums, but this ticketing at Optus/ Kardinia is an insult.

Charlie, the club is not charging you and providing a gaurantee for anything.

You pay for 5 games and are entitled to enter those 5 games at all times subject to ground capacity.

Other than a communication issue with the Melbourne office, I don't see what your issue is? All interstate clubs selling memberships in Melbourne and a number of Victorian clubs selling 17 game memberships have the same ground capacity rules.

Charlie if it wasn't for your membership the tickets you brought for $18 would of cost twice that, because the games at Geelong the membership covers the cost of the GA admission, while you have to pay the extra cost of booking the seat that the Geelong Football Club has put on top of the normal GA cost. Nothing the club can do about that

So to summarise what I said...

Tony Moorwood = good so far.
Geelong game = should not be a part of a Vic (or Melbourne based) membership.
Melbourne games = wait and see next year.
Things we can do = show how many passionate supporters there are down here like we did at the Carlton game

Mate, my issue in the particular paragraph you quoted was that I had to go in to get them, and that they leave it so late that you can't wait and see whether any tickets come up. Now, I don't see why they don't just send out the tickets. If you can't get them in time to make tickets no longer required available to others... send them through the mail!

I realise they do not have total control over the situation. However, I don't think they're doing all they can. If they were, I would have known long ago that I had to book tickets away from the cheer squad.
