    Independence?

I am just wondering how RWOL can claim to be an independent fansite when posters are quite obviously moderated at will by those with that power. If this is an INDEPENDENT site then surely everyone should be able to voice their opinion and ask any question they feel fit. This should be done without the threat of being moderated or a thread being canned simply cos the moderators dont like it.

I would have to agree as long as the posts aren't getting personal toward anyone. I read your previous post and I would like to know what the alleged incident was as well but the post has been locked and I don't think it broke the rules of the board but that is only my opinion.

It was locked because it was heading down a very dangerous path which we have seen before. The post was gossip which has no proof. Thus it needed to be locked.

RWO is "independent" as we have no official affiliation with the club. They know about us and help us out ocassionally, but by and large we're left to do our own thing. the moderation issue is completely separate from that. RWO is an online community, with its own rules and guidelines - it's important that we have these so the place doesn't turn into a rowdy schoolyard.

The unique thing about your previous post, WASwansFanatic is that it was a topic frequently brought up by another poster (and at this point I'm going to ASSUME that you are not in fact that same poster using a pseudonym. Trust in the basic goodness of humanity is another one of my faults). No actual details or proof was forthcoming from that poster on this issue, so we didn't feel it was appropriate to continue spreading speculation that could lead to any legal action (as small as the chances of that may be). We don't mind the great majority of posts as long as they don't step over the lines of decency (and you are able to back up anything potentially libellous)

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

No I am not the same person. I have heard on another swans message board about a situation that allegedly happened over here in Perth. Yet noone seems willingly to expand with details. I was simply curious as to what such details were.

As for your independence....Is such a message board not meant for all supporters to have an avenue to voice their opinions? Being independent from the club surely must allow this! However constant "chastising" and "locking" of threads I believe does not promote such independence. Please if this message board is independent then allow everyone to have their say.....And any potential legal ramifications can be dealt with by everyone using the word allegedly....

Yep, that's a good way to go about it, basically any potential problem we may have with legal issues would come from someone stating as fact that something happened rather than putting in a clarification to say it was alleged, or it was their opinion or something like that...

Just a thought. Is it possible to have a disclaimer (one or two lines in small print)that automatically appears at the bottom of each post?

Your allowed to say whatever you like as long as you don't get personal. Your thread wasn't the reason it was locked it was the possible answers to your question which have created many a war on this site. We like to keep this place civil as much as possible.

In that case WASF, apologies about your post, but it came at a time when all and sundry here were sick of the topic (as the other poster constantly brought it up without ever offering any details or proof). I don't have a clue what happened myself.

If ONLY people would use "allegedly". That'd help solve a lot of problems.

Legally disclaimers are not a valid and as such wouldn't work. Gossip is banned if its personal, such as a players lovelife. Gossip that isn't banned is trade rumors and the like.

If everyone plays by the rules we shouldn't have any problems now would we.

Why all the complaining??? This site belongs to Des. He makes the rules, we live by them, simple as abc...

If you don't like it, leave. Sorry, but no diplomacy is necessary the way I see it.

Charlie, I don't think that there has been much complaining just opinions being voiced and questions asked most of which have been answered.
