    Crawford to the Swans ??

I was just thinking, if Crawford is to lose the captaincy at Hawthorn, perhapes he may think that he is ready for a change of sceanery, and might not mind comming back home and playing for the Swans.
I would not advocate him as a future capatain however, but I do think that under a dominant personality like Roos, he may well be forced to nuckel under and could well produce some really good performances in the last 3-5 years of his career !
I would imagine that a brownlow medalist midfeider could well be what the Swans require , provided of course that he was perpared to lose a bit of the ego !
It may well be quite affordable to ! (on a trade level anyways - Idon't know about salary cap) I would imagine that the Hawks- provided Shane wanted to leave, would settle for say a stright swap with us of Crawf for say Saddington + a 3rd round pick .
    mmmm .. I wonder ???

It's not really coming home! His town in NSW is closer to Melbourne than Sydney.

I don't think he would consider leaving Melbourne. He is a superstar there.

I wouldn't say no to the Crawf, but somehow with who the fans are willing to let go of, we would have no chance in hell of getting him!!

He is from Finley. (Never been there but told it is on the Murray).

Finley's not that far from Deniliquin. A little north of the Murray, but yeah, near the border.

Crawford will not be at the Swans, next year or ever. He has three years left on a contract that will no doubt be worth a couple of million dollars. Not to mention the fact that he won't want to leave Melbourne - he's got everything going for him here, including the opportunity to indulge his acting fantasy.

By the time he becomes availabe, he'll be nearly 33 years old. And simply, he doesn't want to play that long. In his mind, Crawf has moved on from football to a certain degree... he's just meeting his obligations. Even when he signed his contract (which was for five years), he said that he had no doubt it would be his last one.

More to the point Crawf would not be interested in trying to get his body up for another couple of years AS WELL as trying starting from the ground up with a new city and a new team.

                  On the other hand......

If we can't get a Judd and we already have a crop of youngsters who need two years nuturing, then he would be a better option than a low draft pick.

Plus Crawf could do with a little less media in his life....or, more to the point, could do with Australia wide exposure (Sydney entertainment scene) but without the Melbournesque interest in ripping AFL players down. Sydney media save that for League players!

I can't see it happening, but recruiting one older player isn't mutually exclusive with a youth policy.
