Freo's Crows win vs our Crows win

Apparently THEY are "firmly in the finals race" after beating the Crows by 12pts but WE are still not convincing finals prospects after beating them by 13pts!

    Huh???

Our win was at home, Freo's win was away. If we beat Geelong tomorrow, we should gain some respect.

This sort of uninformed whinging is a bit embarrassing - Freo won at AAMI stadium whereas we won at home, and also Freo kicked 14 goals while we managed a paltry 8.

It was early but seemed to dry out later in the game. Have a look at how wet the MCG was last night (much wetter than the SCG last week) and how well Brisbane handled the ball in the second half and how they kicked 16 goals.

What does the number of goals have to do with it?

The point I'm trying to make is that Freo beat the Crows (at home, yeah well I'll give you that) when a week ago we did the same by the same margain.
It was also the first time we had beaten them under Roos. Relevant? To me, yes.
It wasn't a free flowing game - so what?

Why are they apparently finals material but we're not? Because that's the impression I get when I read the articles on each match!

I hardly think it's "uninformed whinging". And who's it embarrassing? YOU??? Well sorry that you're so precious about people voicing their opinions.

Because the media, and most other people, view our win as pretty ordinary. We scored few goals and simply locked up the ball. Most people don't view that as good football.

The home and away part is significant.

Yes, relevant to you but not to the media.

                  See first point.

Because they won a game of football away, we won a game of rugby at home. This is the way the media are viewing it.
I hardly think it's "uninformed whinging". And who's it embarrassing? YOU??? Well sorry that you're so precious about people voicing their opinions.
I apologise for the way that came out - wasn't meant to be a personal attack on you (although it looks damn like it). It was directed specifically at your comment, which missed the two parts the media will be focussing on - winning football and winning away (as I have noted above).

A lot of people here complain about the Melbourne media, but sometimes the complaints come across as ill-informed. This tends to reinforce the (mistaken) view that most Sydney supporters do not understand the game properly.

Finally, I have no problem with people voicing their opinions. I like everyone to do so. But I also like people to have informed opinions, and if I disagree I will say so. However, unless they are really really stupid (which this one wasn't - just a little ) then I don't mean to be personal.

It's typical uninformed whinging from the sydney side though (on this board). "oooh the Melbourne media, blah, blah, blah, ooh boo hoo"
