Hi all just got back from skilled and am more than a little fired up.To listen to the review on radio after match you would think the cats killed us.Am i the only one who has noticed we hardly ever have more free kicks than opponents and when we do we always win,to get to the point once again the umpiring was verging on under9 standard and im just wondering do we get that in sydney doesnt seem to me we do but maybe im biased.Today made the earlier bombers umpiring debacle look tame in my opinion ruined a really good game between two hard at it teams, will say this the crowd at skilled are like angels compared to optus morons and even worse all the swans supporters last week at s.c.g who werent even watching the game more interested in getting up and down out of their seat to get a chardonay or wave to others in the dim set.God if you go to the footy watch it people, sorry if im ranting but still cannot believe the umpires today.

Some of the umpiring calls were shocking today, as noted on Ch 9 and ABC radio.Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

In a tight game bad umpiring WILL decide outcomes and today looks like it. I have checked the video of the killer free and if it was there what about the ones they let go all day? In the context of the game it was soft as and we would have won by 30 if we got those all day.Sports do not build character. They reveal it....Heywood Broun

We actually do okay from umpires - we are +1.5 before this round (ave free kicks for - ave free kicks against), which is 4th in the comp.
Bomber fans seem to think that they've been hard done by for years, purely going on that stat, conveniently ignoring the aggressive, clumsy style of football their team plays, especially when they're not going that way.
What matters is where you receive the frees - ie Lloyd's ability to get one when he stubs his toe versus Baz not only having to lose his head before he gets one but also getting the softest of softest ones against him when he dares to provide a contest.
It's also whether you break even on the soft ones, and the valid ones missed. Of course only the umpiring department is really in a position to monitor that stat and, unsurprisingly, they don't make it public.Comment

It was one of those games that I really hate, pathetic umpiring ruined what could of been a great finish to the game........but whats new.
The umpires gave that game to the cats in the last quarter.
As usual we got walloped with free kicks in our defensive 50 giving them easy shots at goal and have you noticed something else whenever an interstate team is playing in Melbourne and there is only a few goals in it in the last quarter most of free kicks go the way of the Melbourne teams.
There should be a an open debate at the end of each game where the umpires answer questions about umpiring decisions they make during the game.
Anyway I look forward to seeing Sydney play the Dockers over here in WA next week.
I just hope the umpires stick that whistle somewhere.........preferably some place darkComment

The raw number of frees received for and against is a completely meaningless stat though.Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

It isn't necessarily meaningless. It's certainly a lot more meaningful than one-eyed supporters always thinking they get the worst from the umpires (which supporters from all clubs tend to do).
Its not how many free kicks you get, its where you get them.Once was, now elsewhereComment

Yeah, I am just back from the country footy today. The Geelong supporters are soooo quiet.
Must say that of all of the grounds I have been too, this ground had the best catering, didn't have to wait long for food or drink
Now to the game,
The umpiring was "SCHMIDT"Comment
