    Is the Swans Season Over

Does anyone think we can still win this years premiership... reading all the posts it feels like people have decided we are out of contention and not good enough so am just wondering if people think we can win the flag this year

re can we win the flag

    Hi Guys

    Bluntly speaking no and no.

We have had too many injuries and we just don't have the depth like teams such as Melbourne and the lions and port adelaide

I think that Port is starting to show that they are ready to win a finals match and are peaking at the right time

    Melbourne is a smokey.

I still think that Brisbane and Port will fight it out in Sep with the lions winning a 4th straight flag

The Swannies need more depth and that comes with a solid backline and a decent fullback as well as a good and experienced ruckman

The rest of the squad ie midfield and forwardline is ok but we need a few more experience players in the backline

    That is my thought

What does everyone else think ?

    Regards Dazz

i just cant give up i think on paper we have a good team.... but i mean hawthorn do as well.

Before the maggies match i said to friends we needed to beat collingwood carlton and adelaide and we did that

then looking at geelong, freo and brisbane i said we need to win 2/3 so right now we still can

it hinges on the next 2 weeks for me

      but its a tough ask!

Bugger I voted the wrong way around - your thread says " Is the Swans Season Over?" and the poll says "Can the Swans win the Premiership."

No, I don't think we can win the premiership now. We just do not look like the side of last year that was capable of doing anything, and I can't imagine we will recapture that form in the next 2 months.

Is the season over? Harder question, because I suppose it means different things to different people. In terms of a success it probably is. In terms of working on things to improve for next year, probably not.

I gave up on this year when we were beaten by a pathetic Richmond and almost lost to the dawks by a point.

We wont win the flag for a few years yet. No depth at all.

To be honest i have had enough of the swans for now. Its a case of 2 steps forward 3 steps back with this club and team.

                Hi Guys

I agree with you guys. The Swannies really disappoint me but when I look at teams like Richmond and Hawthorn who have no depth at all and are playing really badly then I think that there are 8 other teams that are worse than us

Between you and me I think that sometimes Roos is just too soft on his players and allows his players to make mistakes

I think that he should be dragging his players and giving them hell when they are playing terribly

Look at what happened in the Port Adelaide game

I know thay they were undermanned but they still played badly

Also I am disappointed that they just make up the numbers every year in the finals but last year they were much better

I just can not see where they are going to improve though if they do not pick up some quality players

What do you guys think ?

                Regards Dazz

fosdike is a big test of where the club is at IMHO. I like fosdike, i like all the players. But he doesnt seem capapble to doing anything for the club. Too often the team has hung onto average players and if they show some "balls" and delist a player like fosdike i think it will be a sign the team means business and wont carry people out of compassion.

It's alright NMW. Our respective incorrect votes balance each other out now.

No biggy. Certainly Brisbane look favourites, although I think injuries will be key again. They have had a fairly good run each year, and will need it again. Getting Keating back will be important for them.

Port Adelaide may actually surprise and do well in finals this year for a change.

Melbourne are a bit of a wildcard. I've watched them a few times and they still don't seem that great, but their game is very effective at the moment and they are full of confidence, so could be an outside threat.

St.Kilda have lots of talent, but as I thought might happen, the pressure is affecting some of the less experienced players as well as some others. This will count against them in finals.

Neither Essendon or Freo have the ability to play finals pressure football, and I don't think West Coast or Kangaroos, if they make it, have the team to do so.

If we were playing like last year then, like Melbourne, we could have been a wildcard. However that looks very unlikely. After the Richmond game I started a thread called 'Season over' and I think, from the perspective of finals, that was right at the time. Only twice this year have we really demonstrated the form of last year, and injuries only go part of the way to explain this.

                          Hi Guys

We are getting away from the subject of how mediocre the Swans are

I think a lot of people were hoping after such a good year last year that this year would be the same

We have had a bad run with injuries I grant you guys that but there is no depth at all at the swans

We are missing so many key players who have gone down with injury at the worst time of the year.

What the hell is going on ? Why are we the club that always gets injuries ?

What the hell did we get Nick Davis for ?

Why are we not resting Goodes when he is clearly struggling ?

Why are we playing Schneider and Schauble when they are clearly not fit ?

Why are we keeping Warfe on the list when he has done bugger all the whole year ?

                          Regards Dazz
