    Dyson

Have been watching the re-runs of Sydney Norths Grand final and am amazed at the amount of work done by Dyson. He played really well in the Preliminary final and the Grand Final - Tall, Stocky and was in everything. curiousity has got me wondering where he is.

Who can enlighten me on where he went from Sydney? Time has erased my memory.

Can't wait for Saturday night - wishing for a first up win over Carlton.

Schneider is a cousin of a friend of ours - they all play every sport - girls in family play cricket etc very talented sportspeople - so I believe is Schnieder he will give it his all. Very pleased for him

IIRC he gave up the game to focus on his business career (I may well be wrong, being so long ago).

Can't miss the way Luffy tore the Roos to shreds early on in that GF either!!!

    I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.

Yes Luff played very well for both games - the preliminary final and the grand final - can't help feeling how that was definitely the game that got away.

Many of our players - were very good - hard at the ball - getting up quickly when down and playing on - some fantastic plays - all players full of eagerness.

Michael O'Loughlin played hard and played down back - which seemed to suit him - my opinion only but he doesn't seem to have the drive and eagerness lately - last year - if hurt - takes too long to get up and play on - even when just a knock - am I reading him right or do other people feel he is a go getter?

Sure hope this years team is full of zest and eagerness - can't wait for Saturday night to get out there and cheer them on - we just have to win first up and give a boost to our ratings and those Melbourne journos - may they suck eggs especially Sheehan.

Dyson retired the year I started following the game, so I don't know a lot about him, or where he is now. Was a booming kick in the middle though, if I recall...

Re: Troy Luff in the GF, one of Luffy's final questions at the RWO trivia night was "Who got the first kick in the '96 Grand Final?" Answer: Troy Luff

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

As suggested above, Dyson left to pursue business interests. Apparently his business (whatever it was) was doing so well he didn't have the time to commit to both.

I can remember the excitement when Mooney(the great dud) slotted through the goal in the second quarter to give us what I thought would be an unassailable lead.To this day I have never watched past that point in the game and never will,at least until we win a flag.Oh for Kellys pass dropping short of OBrien and Chapman taking that one step after collecting the rebound. The pain.

Yep was a huge loss when "Dice" left to pursue business interests in 97- was the perfect "in and under" to compliment Kell and the other runners.

To truly appreciate Kevin Dyson, check out Roosy's 300th game in 96 against the Roos at Optus oval. He set up so many goals with his hard work it wasn't funny.

Still my favourite swans game of all time. The swannies won by 90 odd points, Plugger kicked 9 after half time, Dunks gave Carey a bath and as usual Roosy didn't have an oponent all day.

That it certainly was! I remember lying in my parents bedroom watching that game. God it was good

Dont where Dyson is at the moment , but if I recall correctly he came from the melbourne footy club in a trade with sydney.
He was a good player. Underrated.

1996 GF - Luff took a couple of marks in the first half, didn't see much of him after that.

It was definately the one that got away. Good clubs don't lose games like that, where we had a chance to go to a 30+ point lead before Kelly had a Bazza when attempting a very simple pass to Lockett and also sprayed one from 50.

Another disappointment for me was O'Brien getting taken out by a reckless sliding knee from King... Umpires call? Play on!

All in all, a day of very mixed emotions.

Dyson was juggling business interests the whole time he was in Sydney.

From memory his business may have been family related, but I know it was in IT and he spent a fair part of the off-season in SE Asia.

From talking to him, it just became a matter of there was an absolute motza to be made and he just couldn't devote enough time to footy without jeopadising his business interests and future.

They put Archer on him, and he tore him apart.

Yep, they were the two critical parts of the game in the 2nd qtr that could easily have blown the game apart.

Losing O'Brien was a key factor in us losing. We really had no second option up forward after Luffy was taken out of it.

As for Dyson, an excellent, if little noticed, player. Very hard at the ball, good skills and a great awareness.
