Well forgive me for suggesting it then

Rogers is a dud and one good game in a minor league is not going to solve our problems.
He has kicked a bag on a few occassions this year down there. Someone from the club saw something from him at some point.

James would be a much better bet in the forward line.
He just might be at that.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Rogers is dud. Full stop. We are wasting times to talk about him.

We are one tall short up front. O'Loughlin is a good alternative target but is not as damaging as the main go-to man. Same for O'Keefe. In a larger ground when the difference between half forward line and full forward line is distinct, our forward line is less potent. Hall is a good go-to man but if he is in the forward line, we have no target along the half forward and vice versa. We need to find another tall who could provide a contest. This is the reason why I think LRT is crucial to the team well-being. He provides a decent enough contest for our better than average crumber(s) to take advantages off. The alternative is to see Health James could do likewise. Of course, in the ideal world, cloning Hall would have been the best option but since we are playing in the communist-style AFL, cloing Hall would have been illegal me thinks .

Simon Feast was a gun. Wait. You're right

It's cool, I appreciate that folks are down on Rogers- I was more interested in looking to bring in someone to stand the goal square and move Micky to a FP perhaps. Rogers can provide the big body and seems to have been consistent.

this talk of Rogers being a hack is interesting because people were raving about him during the preseason, and was given 1 (i think) game with little ground time in the seniors. And he wasnt tried up forward during that game.

Rogers spent two years at Melbourne, learning as a forward and they delisted him. So we tried him as a defender and he still sucks. Where else could he play? Ruck perhaps. He is too clumsy to make it.

I wouldnt be too worried if Rogers makes it or not anyway, he's on our rookie list. Not like we wasted a draft pick or trade on him.

So your writting him off on the basis of just one game then?

His reserves games have been pretty ordinary as well.

                      Swans 15. 6. 96 defeated Eastlake 13 . 9. 87

Goals N Davis 5 Rogers 5 Thewlis 3 Warfe and Hunt 1 each

Best James Powell N Davis Schmidt Dempster Rogers

This is the 2nd game in succession that 1st year player Schmidt has been in the Best Players.

ALSO, IF IT IS GOOD ENOUGH FOR DAVIS AND RECENTLY SCHAUBLE TO RETURN VIA THE RESERVES WHY NOT AN UNFIT SCHNEIDER?

No McGlone though. That is disappointing. But either one of the eternal emergencies (James & Dempster) MUST play seniors this week surely. No team can lose 3 on the trot without some sort of changes to the lineup.

Gimme Davis (if fit enough now) and James for Schneider and 1 out of Williams, Ablett or Goodes.

Good call and put Nicks down back. Would add a bit of life in both halves and might provide much wanted variety in what is a very boring setup.

well every coach has their favourites and maybe Roos has a soft spot for Schneider and rates him more highly than the likes of Davis, or maybe felt that he was more capable of coming back and performing straight away than him. In my opinion it is tougher to play midfield on limited legs than a forward, especially if you had bench time. And he must have known that other on-ballers such as Willo were struggling with their fitness.

My take on the Schneider decision is that it was more the result of cumulative injuries at the time he returned. Had Davis and/or Buchanan been fit and in the team, the need to rush Schneider straight back might have seemed less compelling. With Schneider already having played a few games back, they may have considered him a better option, fitness wise, to keep in the team than swapping him with Davis.

I'm not defending the decision to bring Schneider back in - personally I think he and the team would have been better off had he been given time in the twos. But it may explain their thought process at the time.

I just noticed that the sportingpulse website recorded the 3-2-1 vote getters and so I've tallied up the Swans votes:

                                j.thewlis 7
                                s.mcglone 6
                                a.buchanan 4
                                s.dempster 3
                                m.nicks 3
                                l.roberts-thomson 3
                                t.schmidt 3
                                a.ericksen 2
                                a.hayes 2 (top up player)
                                h.james 2
                                m.powell 2
                                r.warfe 2
                                j.willoughby 1

For those interested, in the latest game Warfe got 1 vote and Dempster 3 votes.
