OK, I'm usually not into bagging the coaching staff (apart from the ridiculous zone defense we apply to opposition kickouts), but I think yesterday Roos and Co. were totally outcoached.
When the opposition has an extra player dropping into the backline to double-team BBBH, why doesn't our free man join him to pick up the crumbs. Let's face it, the backmen are there to spoil. The contest that BBBH provides means that if he doesn't mark the ball, then 9 times out 10 it is going to go to ground. Now I agree with the plan to keep an open forward line, but there has to be a crumber around to take advantage of the loose ball.
Is it just that Schneider, Buchanan et al. are so unfit that they can't get back to the contest, or is it Roos' plan to keep the forward line a forward-free zone? If it's the latter, then we're never going to score any second-chance goals.
BTW: I think the moves of Nicks to the backline and Bevan to the forward line were great, but far too late.
