People who have seen the ressies would be better to give you this info than me.But from what I have read he seems likely, been named in the best a few times.

It's probably Schmidty himself! Trying to get some early positive vibes before the vultures on this site scream for blood in later years if he's not playing so well.

Early in the season he was doing OK in the reserves without looking anything special. Then he missed a few weeks with injury. Saw part of the last reserves game but one and was very very impressed by his use of the ball in wet, greasy conditions. He looked creative and very clean with his hands. Reports suggest that he carried on that form into last week's game.

Fitness looks to be an issue for him. If anyone can recall when Buchanan was first drafted there were comments (including from official club sources) that he had an untraditional body shape for a footballer, with a low centre of gravity. For Schmidt at the moment, take that and multiply several times. However, it needs to be remembered that he didn't play much footy in his last year at underage level through injuries so it shouldn't be a concern that his fitness isn't up where it needs to be yet. He will probably have to work hard to change his body shape before he plays AFL level, but he wasn't recruited as a fleet footed runner.
