    Healthy bodies cause a shift

    Healthy bodies cause a shift

Just saw this on the Swans website.

Dunno what to make of it. While saying that Willo and Schneider needed time off, Roos acknowledges that Fosdike is playing even though he is underdone. It just seems like 2 steps forward, 1 step back, or something like that. .

I'm just further worried that Roosy has gone off the rails a bit over the last month or two. Last year he introduced losts of new guys (Powell, LRT, Schneider, Meiklejohn, along with C.Bolton and N.Davis), and most of them got a good long time to settle in the seniors. This year we have seen only Bevan, McVeigh, Rogers, Thewlis, with only 2 of these guys getting plenty of games.

The point of this is that we have had SO many injury worries, and plenty of half-fit guys play each week. Why not give some new guys a decent run?

Why bring back an underdone Fosdike, who will be next to useless, rather than Powell or Thewlis or even giving Dempster a go? I'm hoping Fosdike is a late withdrawal again.

i guess he has to say something. is he trying to play the underdog card? hardly necessary.

if he gives young guys a run and we lose to brisbane, people will ask why he played rookies when a "slightly underdone" fosdike was available. we are clinging on to our eighth spot and maybe roos thinks that this game is the turning point. if we drop out of the eight he might feel more confident.

maybe he thinks if he plays a youngster who gets destroyed by a "fab fiver" or anyone really, that it might not be the way he wants to introduce them.

i'm pretty stream of conciousness here so apologies in advance....

I just dont think this stacks up, because if you look at our remaining games, we will still make the 8 if we drop this game, but win the 3 others that should be winnable. I would think you play fit people whenever possible.

I think the equation is pretty worrying. Fosdike has a history of returning slowly from injury. There hasn't been a single time he has come back and immediately an played well.Even after games in the twos. He needs time to run back in to form.

On the other hand we have Davis (who went out in the same game remember) having played last week in the reserves, kicked 5 goals, and who has a history of coming in and immediately booting goals.

Either it's a Roos ruse to fool the opposition and Davis will play, or Roosy has dropped a cog or two.
We have them where we want them, everything is going according to plan!

Maybe his 5 year plan is more realistic than we all think.

I get the feeling that any hope of a high finish having gone, he is hoping to get into the finals, and hence be able to say that under the circumstances it was a creditable season, not that too many of us would want to see that.

Don't forget it is his career also, so a finals berth will look good on his CV. The media seems to be very kind to their clique which provides them with stories righ to the end. Sheahan was saying what a good guy Schwab was until almost the last day, when he got wind of the sacking. When he went he as good as said he was no good as a coach.

On blooding players, I would hope he does not go the Eade way of trying to keep up a level of mediocrity by playing experience on a 1 year plan, at the expense of developing youth. This would be directly against the platform on which he was appointed.

Fossie hasn't missed very many games through injury so I'm not sure how he has a history of returning slowly.

Furthermore, although he's missed a few weeks recently it has been through different niggling injuries, suggesting that he hasn't sustained a long period of missed training. Davis, on the other hand, can barely have trained since very early in the season when he sustained his first injury and was clearly useless when he tried to come back too early.

We've been criticising the coaching team for rushing Schneider back after 9 weeks out. Davis has, in reality, been "out" for longer so it seems to me that the coaching staff are just learning from their errors.

I would of hoped they would not of made that sort of error in the first place.
