One game does not change the facts that we are still a rather big step away from the flag. I wonder if we can do it to them on the G ?

Yes - but that's not what you asked, was it?

You asked which team has won a flag by NOT dipping low to get early draft picks. The answer to that is Essendon.

Yawn. No matter how hard you try, Footyhead, there's no way you're going to put a negative spin on tonight.

My take on these latest media releases, is that we are going after Crawford big time.

I'm not totally against that, but would not want to give up a top 10 player to do so.

My take on it is that we're going to be dangling our first round draft pick and some fringe players and see who bites.

Fair enough. I have often thought Sheedy a genius in this respect.

As for a negative spin. I hope we win the flag I really really do.

What a negative thread. How could anyone want to endure another early 90's era for the misguided reason that we are rebuilding, (which may not work anyway) which is predicated on the basis you have the very best people to drag you out of the mire.

Right now our club is pretty healthy with a decent core of good players. The task is to build on that group to go to the next level, which IMO is about producing a couple of midfielders with a touch of brilliance. We have the taggers and toilers, now for the brilliance.

our brilliance relies on a fit goodesy running rampant in the midfield

if the AFL change the ruck rules to the wizz fizz ruck rules, goodesy will be no 1 ruck again and the brilliance will be oozing

That would help, but we don't even need that. Just a big guy to compete at the centre and Goodes around the ground (very pleased to finally see this happening again!).

so much! as gerard healy stated (watched the last half when i got home last night on fox footy) he is moving the best he has since doing his PCL, with the one exception, ie when he pulled up proppy when heading towards the boundary line in front of the interchange

can anyone find the article about the love between roosy and lynch from the daily telegraph that was handed out last night?

when reading the first paragraph i almost fell off my train seat, it went along the lines of:

"If you ever see Simon Black running around in a Swans guernsey, you would have Alastair Lynch to blame."

                            my imagination went wild!

imagine a centre square set up of black and kirk; cleanest hands in the league!

i get the feeling we will see lynch in an assistant coach role at the swans next year... if not, the year after

Swans having to be successful is a handicap but believe this year there would be no harm in landing an established star given that the last year or so has seen an influx of youngsters come on to the list. Remember the first pick won't be high anyway. BTW I did mention a few months back that Roos was chasing a gun midfielder, I heard this from a very reliable Melbourne-based recruiting contact I have.
