    Luke Ablett

I thought some1 would of written about this by now...

i thought he had an excellent game on Saturday nite and he did a fanastic job on Lappin i was a bit sceptical when i saw him line up against him but he totally suprised me and everyone i was sitting around....

His was a HUGE kick and was amazed of the distance he gets from kicks and when watching the replay he was always under the pile of players in a ball up situation...

Well Done Luke Keep it Up

He did play well, but id like to see him do it a few more times before im convinced of his value, also Lappin was given 2 votes in a couple of papers so how effective was he,if his role was primarily as a tagger then well maybe he didnt play that well?

Lapping was their highest possession getter according to the stats on afl.com.au

Being the leading possession getter doesn't mean he had a good game. In fact, the 'fab 5' all were high up in the posession stakes, but the only one you would say had a good game was Power, and Voss to a lesser degree. IIRC, both Lappin and Akermanis got a lot of their possessions in the last quarter coming off the half back flank.

On the flip side, although it was a good win, no Swans player really stood out and hence it may be why Lappin got some votes.

That's how some people choose their best Swans players...

I thought Ablett did well early in the game when the heat was really on and that he was a more decisive player in terms of the game. Lappin seemed to come into it in junk time.

Waiting for Luke to play out a game but am getting more confident he will do it before long.

I think there was an element of that plus Ablett tired a bit plus Lappin is so good you usually can't stop him, just limit him, which is what Ablett did.

NMW, surely you don't expect some scribes to watch the game.

They rarely give backman a vote (Scarlett is an exception) and almost always give their votes to the top possession getters, regardless of skills. I love it when they give votes to someone who racks them up in the first half, but doesn't get a sniff in the 2nd half, and vice versa.

Lappin had almost no impact on the game while it counted, while Ablett was having a positive one of his own. That's pretty much all Ablett's performance should be judged on, IMHO.

Was actually pretty glad Lappin got some junk disposals because Fantasy Football doesn't measure their effectiveness - and he's my captain!

Which is why I didn't mind Tim Notting kicking a few goals (he's not captain though).

                          I'm on the Chandwagon!!!
